A friend of mine has a JP F3 500 which is supposed to have been owned by a John Bailey. He understands that Mr Bailey currently owns a Cannon GT. This from his email:

"He used to own a very nice JP 500 [ bought as a “ Cooper” for £250 ] in the 1960s. Long range tank over driver’s legs plus dry sump ali barrel JAP. Sprinted at Church Lawford & Poddington [ before it became Santa Pod ]. I am also told he owns the Cannon GT and that he was at Snetterton the other weekend helping some one with a single seater."

If anyone has contact details please send me a PM so I can pass this onto my friend.

Thanks.

Is that the same John Bailey who had a D-type Jaguar for a long time? May still have it for all I know, which means he might be contactable through one of the Jaguar clubs

I wonder if this enquiry was ever resolved?

1962: Late September?

"..at Podington Airfield,

John Corfield was fastest in 60.20 secs.,

with his Terrier-Ford, in spite of the

presence of Bob Anderson with a works

Lotus-Ford 22 (true, the Lotus was worried

all day with gearbox maladies)."

Autosport, 22 February 1963.

Michael Kettlewell, 1962 Seasonal Survey, Hill-Climbs and Sprints.

Did Autosport cover this event? What date?

Note: Podington, only one 'd'.

More Terrier history.

The Cannon A30 was featured in Autosport, 1 January 1954:

"Cooper Chassis and Austin A30 Engine — An

Interesting Vehicle Designed by Michael Cannon"

"Michael Cannon, a young Tas-

manian who has made a consider-

able reputation for himself

in the trials world since he came to this

country to take up farming after the

war,..."

But not the same car as here: https://forums.autos...1964-cannon-gt/

Many thanks. Any other early dates at Podington?

Does anybody have a drag race (venue unknown), 11 April 1965?

Going back to the Poddington /Podington issue both the village and the RAF base only had/have a single d.
