Terry,
From "Relay Race Silverstone 1952": Car OD 4638 is MG J2749 owned & driven by Geoff Coles. The car wears the body from the Dodson 1934 TT winning NE Magnette.

Would anyone know who brought the majority of the negatives I did win a couple of rolls.
It was a shame they were broken up

Hello all,

Here is a link to yet another lot that needs to be identified:

17 ORIGINAL 35mm NEGS of UNKNOWN OFF ROAD CAR TRIALS [muddy] c1950's.

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f188c60a2

The number 60 car GPB250 is a 1937 H.R.G, ex- Ken Baillie Hill, Jack (John) Newton and J Martin-Lewis, currently
owned by my brother Lars who bought this roll of negatives.

Any help identifying these would be much appreciated indeed. Programme scans?

Kindest regards
Anders

The sixth photo in the CIRCUIT RACING BLANDFORD 1949 lot appears to be 1936 Lagonda LG45 Rapide, s/n 12111. Don't know who was driving it then.

Can anybody please deliver a date for this event and perhaps eventually also give a name for the Frazer Nash / BMW 328 driver in picture #22?

The 750MC Six-hour Relay was on 29 August 1953. No mention of the driver of the BMW in Motor Sport, but perhaps 750MC archives include a race programme.
The 1954 race was on 28 August but Motor Sport didn't cover it at all, so far as I can see.

Anders,
The Trials photos are I think pre-war, not 1950s. The second from last photo is of Philip Flower in MG J2, Chassis J3113. He was a very accomplished driver, despite being paralysed from the waist down achieving sucess in big events of the day, not just "clubbies" & has recorded well over 100 events. He did not trial post 1945 as far as is known. The car looks to be in it's earlier configuration (perhaps pre 1937).

JH,
Interesting, as my brother Lars saw a framed copy on the wall in Baillie's daughters home some years ago and
Baillie sold the car in 1945. So the conclusion would be it was a pre-war event. But where and when?

Anders

P.S.
Forgot to mention that it cannot really be 1937 as GPB250 was delivered to Baillie 23-23 December 1937.

The first photo on the Trials roll of film shows a Vauxhall reg no. DRK 713. This series of registrations were issued at Croydon between May 1938 - Oct 1938. So as a guess I would say that the earliest date that the photo was taken was August 1938, hopefully this will narrow things down for you.

Great. Can we also exclude the war years?

As fuel rationing was introduced during September 1939 I think we can safely assume the event was before then, unless someone knows better.

As GPB 250 was issued in Surrey and DRK 713 was issued in Croydon (which was once in Surrey); I think that is is fair to asume that the Trials event was held not a million miles away from Surrey!

The hill has been identified to me as "Hale Acre Wood" (near Great Missenden in the Chilterns), a well known pre-war hill. You can still go there today, only you have to brave a rather unfriendly Travellers Camp, complete with snarling dogs!

Ah, it is getting closer now. :-)
I spent some time googling for various combinations of Hale Acre Wood, HRG, pre-war hill climb and so on,
but without any direct hits. It seems to be a "hard case"?

Thanks JH and Leigh.
