I thought this test had been cancelled.

The FIA gave the teams the choice between Silverstone & Yas Marina. Bouiller was crying about cancellation.

Funnily enough I was thinking the same when I was at Silverstone. They appear to be invisible when I've been watching on TV.

They seem to have found some sponsors finally!

PS: guys have any of you found a live timing / commentary for this test?

I imagine Williams were happy to get Bottas in for some good race runs and general miles at this point of the year! Bruno less so!

Did Bottas really do a 29.1? That would be the fastest lap ever around that layout.

1. Valtteri Bottas Williams-Renault 1m31.436s
2. Max Chilton Marussia-Cosworth 1m36.558s + 5.122s
3. Rio Haryanto Marussia-Cosworth 1m37.404s + 5.968s

HRT won't attend tomorrow as Ma has gone over his limit needed to get his super license.

probably a fast lap with pitting at the end, entering the pit cuts about 1.5 seconds from S3.

Seems a waste, I am quite interested in how well he does.

What limit? The only limit is the teams 15,000km, and there is no way HRT have hit that.

I think he means that Ma Qing Hua has reached the minimum distance needed to qualify for a super-license, so now HRT have no interest in giving him any extra mileage.

Most of them (other than Olympus) are big companies from China. Therefore I suppose those logo will appear only when Ma is driving.

And KH-7 is from Spain. But there is also Tag-Heuer from Switzerland and it's quite new logo on HRT, I'm sure they aren't there from the beginning of the season.

Ma could very well get a Bottas kind of deal where he drives in nearly all FP1's for a 2014 full time drive?

I expect him to drive in the Chinese GP free practice at some point, but I would be very surprised to see him race. Nothing in his career thus far warrants an F1 drive, although he may be an important pioneer in the field of Chinese motorsport.

Did the teams use Silverstone tests for car development?

Reading the news looks like Merc will do exactly that in France this week... FI will be there as well, but are there any other teams confirmed?
