Reported on another website that Bob Stevenson sadly passed away at the weekend, he founded spondon Engineering with Stuart Tiller in the late 60's.
Bob was a smashing fella and a brilliant engineer, I ran many spondon frames and other components and made a few visits to the workshops over the years, I always marvelled at the quality of the spondon products and in particular the bronze welding which was so immaculate it looked like it had been moulded by a craftsmans fingertip.
Bob was also a handy rider in his time, I remember him pitting a really well prepared and very fast Greeves Oulton against the Yamaha's and often coming out on top.
RIP Bob, I can picture you up there now, measuring the gates up and designing a new set out of Reynolds 531
