Despite the prediction that this new brave world of disco tyres would produce exciting variability in terms of lots of different numbers of pit stops from driver to driver, team to team throughout a race, we seem to have reached the point (again) where most teams all diverge into either one or two stops for every race...bar the odd exception.
Part of the reason for this I think is that it's not strategically beneficial to take extra pit stops because of the total laptime lost by making one, so I was wondering what people thought could be done about this. I thought maybe they could make the pit lanes slightly different so they cut off a bit more of section one and so result in a much decreased net loss in overall lap time? If they could make it so that making a pit stop only lost you around 5-10 in total then maybe teams might be a bit more adventurous.

It would make a difference if the total loss in time of a pitstop was less but then wouldn't this just mean people would make more pit stops and there would be no need for people trying to go long? You would just have the same result but with more pit stops. But isuppose it would bring more of an un known factor in as pit stops can be fumbled.

Yeah. Maybe you could have even more of a difference between two tyre compounds or something
