As the title says really. Today I've enjoyed some of the best racecraft I've seen in a long time. Vettel vs (Schumacher,Webber,Massa) , Schumacher vs Raikkonen, the two Marrusias, and many more. What a shame Hamilton and Alonso were taken out of the mix. Is it just me or has it been a long time since we've seen so much racecraft from a variety of drivers in one race?
When was the last time we saw so much great racecraft in one race?

We also saw a lot of amateur hour. A jump start, a first-corner pile-up due to Grosjean expecting Hamilton to disappear, Maldonado clattering Glock and an unsafe Caterham release. It was eventful.

I think it was probably just that we saw more of it because of the way the race developed. Alonso and Hamilton gone at the start, and Button miles out in front meant the cameras were free to actually show teams like Marussia for once. We had Force Indias and Toro Rossos running high for a change, so we saw them. I don't think it's that there was a lot of particularly sweet race craft today, just that we had more of an opportunity to see what's always there.

We've had races this year with just as high a standard of wheel-to-wheel racing, without the idiocy that we had at the start today. China is the one that springs to my mind.

On a positive note, this was probably first race this year that I have sort of enjoyed. Plenty positives on the track, and seeing my two favourite drivers dicing it together was feast for my eyes.

Very good thread. I think the reason is because of the nature of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. It gives a bit more leeway for drivers to make a difference. That normally brings out the best out of the drivers like today.

honestly, wouldn't it be great if races started removing drivers as they fall behind certain distances from the leader?
like qualifying, where at the beginning you have all racers, then as they fall back begin getting "disqualified" only not really disqualified, just removed from the race and assigned points for their position (on a 24 driver grid, 24th gets 1 point, 23rd gets 2 points, etc). By the final 10 laps you only have the top 10 drivers fighting for their lives. Everyone would race more aggressively, since long term single stop strategies don't pay up, tires could be made to last longer, etc..

Webber couldn't overtake certain drivers, where his teammate could. RBR might need to rethink their strategy. Both RBR's were useless with DRS against better teams. They hit the rev limiter on the straight.what did webber do that was amateur? was watching intermittently on a train
