And Kimi is getting seriously nervous waiting for his turn to be interviewed....

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It depends on who's doing the talking. It's better than the soulless stuffy soundproofed media room.
Posted 02 September 2012 - 18:11
They're sooooo cringeworthy. Do not like at all. And it's not even that it's too 'polished' and 'corporate'... it's a shambles and wheeling out old drivers to ask inane 'anyone could ask those' questions is just dumb.
I also don't like that the flags are not real flags anymore, and I think that's a bit disrespectful to the national associations these drivers compete for.

In the media room you generally get a well-respected print or broadcast journalist asking pertinent questions though, not Jacky Ickx talking rubbish (no offence to Jacky, you're a legend mate!)
Posted 02 September 2012 - 18:20
I am sure Ickx is great at delivering a speech at an FIA Gala evening.... but podium interview... he looked a bit out of place.

THIS! I still can't understand why they didn't go this way in the first place as right now they're just awkward.I wouldn't mind if we get someone who can actually interview well.. It was so cringe worthy seeing him pause. every. second. to. ask. a. not. very. well. worded. question.

Those interviews would only really work if they got Clarkson or someone like him to do them. "So, Kimi, why didn't you win? Sebastian, why were you so slow yesterday?"
I like the idea, but interviewers are mostly awful, there is a reason why that kind of questions should be asked by journalists and not ex drivers.

no it wasn't (well maybe to fuddy-daddy's), this is much better, but they have to pick the right people, with interviewing skills instead of just famous names.Needs to go back to the old format, it was fine and they seem to change things for no reason.

I think the podium interviews are excruciating to watch and certainly not as insightful as previously. Drivers don't know what to say half the time. Some things shouldn't be changed.

Smile +1. That would cause fireworks, something the FIA doesn't like to see, hehe.I agree with Jeremy Clarkson, splendid idea!
To Jenson:"Jenson, about Spa - what was God thinking when he gave this place to Belgium? It should be ours!"
To Sebastian:"So you thought you could win this one from Jenson? … the last time someone was as wrong as you, was when a politician stepped off an aeroplane in 1939 waving a piece of paper in the air saying there will be no war with Germany ”
To Kimi: “There is a word to describe your car: it begins with ‘s’ and ends with ‘t’ and it isn’t soot. So what are you going to do about it?"

It's good for the trackside fans who have paid more than those at home to see the drivers up close. I am all for giving those fans more for their money.

The 'flags' and the podium itself haven't grown on me at all, still hate them. The idea of podium interviews has though, I enjoyed seeing thousands of fans stood watching from the track below. The drivers just say what they normally say in the press room anyway, only fans get to see it.
Get a better, premanent interviewer though.
