As reported on JA F1 today the drivers and team principals have been taking pictures of various things for charity (GSOH) and tomorrow they're being auctioned off:

Full story here: http://www.jamesalle...ns-for-charity/

Full gallery of all the pictures here: http://www.zoom-auct...com/gallery.htm

It's quite interesting who's been taking it seriously and made the effort to compose a great shot, and those which you can tell took a quick snap with their smartphone..there's some good ones and some terrible ones!

Personally I rated Kimi's photo, good composition and subject content, thumbs up to Grosjean, Massa, and D'Ambrosio (some reason I can't load his pic!).....I would give praise to a few other pics if I knew how much effort the driver themself put into the post process editing....ie Kobyashi (looks too much like it's been hammered by instagram!), also would like to know who's been weilding a DSLR and who's had help touching up their pics!!

Hope you enjoy....

Here's Kimi's Posted Image

Massa's Posted Image

Interesting that Massa sees himself as a giant Santa Claus.

Bruno Senna's is also interesting, if only because that will be his view of the 2013 championship.

Kamui's photo is my favourite, and WTF with Alonso and Domenicalli, Alonso submitted a pic of Massa, and Domenicalli a pic of Alonso :rotfl:

I love KK's

Lol at MW's picture sometimes I feel he takes equality tooooo far

JB:

They gave me a camera and this was the first thing I saw – so I thought it would be funny to get a shot of Martin [Whitmarsh]. I’m not sure if he’s looking at me with a smile or a smirk! We have a lot of fun together and I think I just wanted to take him a little by surprise. This picture tells you a lot about where we work – I think it’s the end of a practice session at Spa-Francorchamps, so what you see here is very much the average working day of a Formula 1 driver.

LOL

Lewis was one of the 1st to submit a photo so he didn't steal anyone's idea. And at least him & Sutil took the photos themselves not like Schumi who had someone else do it for him.. :p

Edit: Ross Brawn

Ross chose a shot of Michael leaving the garage...everyone put their tinfoil hats on now, please. :drunk:

Some of those shots were really bizarre - I'm not sure how they introduced this project but it seems people took it an all different ways.

Also, we have to assume that Stefano promptly fainted after writing that short sentence about Fernando.

That one stands out as doing very little with very nice equipment - hopefully that doesn't work its way into his contract negotiations!

Oh, and where's Massa?

OK. I have questions about this! How do we get the invitations to this? Is there a number to call? Can we bid online and can we vote for our favourite photos? :)
Even if we only vote here can we do this or is there an official place to do it? That could be fun! I can not find the photo from Bernie Ecclesstone. I would love to see what is in his photo!

Budget-wise, Sutil takes the cake. His Medion Life P43000 was sold for under 90 EUR at Aldi in early 2010. Talk about down-to-earth. :D

Alan Baldwin ‏@alanbaldwinf1
Schumacher's view from the cockpit at Suzuka was the big seller, under the hammer for 2,500 quid.

Just got back from this event. Nicely organised - but a little strange. It was a great mid-season networking event with Sky filming and a man shouting over the top of everyone trying to sell these images (the auctioneer)

Damon was there, EJ, quite a few people from teams and then some other movers and shakers from places like Austin etc....

T'was nice to get out.

Can you reveal how you got a ticket to this event (DM me if you prefer this)? Was there a high entry cost? If there is a second event I would like to know how to get in. I wanted to be there to make a bid for one of the images but there was no information about who to contact for tickets. Do you know if there any way to buy these images online (with or without the autographs)?

Kimi's one would have been great if it had displayed the corner completely. It makes no sense to avoid displaying it from a composition point of view. It deviates attention as it is now.

Said that, I think he had a good intuition there, so kudos for him.

But out of those, the Kobayashi one was my favorite. I think it was the best one.

I read somewhere that Kimi had mentioned that he took the picture because the colours reminded him of the team.

Cheeky Trio of Newey, Horner and Vettel not wanting to share the EXIF data. :D

Kamui Kobayashi's camera is pretty nice too, sporting a sensor with the same size used in the Olympus E-3 while Romain Grosjean's X10 is one of the higher-end digital compact cameras out there. I don't really consider the Olympus E-3 as an entry-level camera, more like mid-to-high end but yeah this is not the forum for that. :D

And I agree, KK's shot is amazing.

Found Kamui Kobayashi's other photos, seems like the E-P3 is his own camera.

End of the day all of them would have had it in auto mode, gone click, and given the camera back.

I am pretty sure that Adrian took apart the camera first. And Jenson wanted to rent a studio.

Actually no. Most of them shot in Manual mode. Brawn shot with Aperture Priority.
(A pro Nikon doesn't even have an auto mode)

Just seen that the auction is now online! There is a link to it in the top right of the main home page:
www.zoom-auction.com

This seems to be the direct link:
http://www.coys-zoom...20Images?page=1

Some of the photos are a steal - Kimi's is going for just £100. I'd still love to know how anyone got hold of tickets for the live auction because I couldnt find details anywhere.

I was just about to start a thread on this, and just saw this one at the last moment! As for steals, the online auction is open for another few weeks, that's just the first bid. Since it's for charity, I hope the bidding goes much higher. Kind of racing of a different sort.

But half the images were to be auctioned off live on Sep 14. I've searched, but haven't found any of the results. Does anyone have info?

This is all I can find. Bernie Ecclestone is worth half of Schumi

Do you know how it was possible to access tickets for the auction?
