Its going to pour in Singapore. Lots of angry dark clouds in the sky. Hope it stops before the start of the practice sessions.

I got news from one of collegues who has just arrived at the paddock. He said as they arrived it started raining cats and dogs. Hope it will be better come the first parctice session, we still have one and half an hour.

So another test day (friday) screwed because of rain just like at Spa :rolleyes: :mad:

but surely with rain possible at some stage later in the season, it would be useful for most of the teams to go out and find away to get the car well setup in the wet, because Ferrari/Alonso looked very comfortable in the wet so far, all he needs is 1 or 2 wet qualys/races and the title will be much closer for him.

If you don't go personally to every race to the Paddock club then you are missing out on the whole experience.

Even a wet Friday could do Alonso the world of good. His main rival at the moment seems to be Hamilton in the McLaren, but when Friday was a washout in Spa it gave McLaren no time to get dialled in. They had to gamble, and it worked for Button but not for Hamilton. If that happens again then Alonso is in a stronger position, because optimal setup will become much harder to find.

That logic is based on the premise that (a) Ferrari has a wider setup window than McLaren and (b) that McLaren will be quicker in the dry at Singapore if both cars are dialled in.

the counter argument to that premise is that Spa was a special case where they had to tune setup with a new rear wing and new downforce config. It shouldnt be so difficult now going back to the hungary style config which worked so well.

Also, Ferrari reportedly brought a raft of upgrades they will need to run first.

Also notice that what used to be kerbs on the outside of some corners (T3, T14) before they came loose last year have been ditched and they now go to the walls, not some random rumble strip in the middle of the road

Good point but (1) I'm still paranoid about McLaren's setup window and (2) aren't McLaren bringing updates as well? Presumably not on the same level as Ferrari?

It isn't raining anymore?

Conditions should just improve throughout the evening as there doesn't seem to be any further rain predicted.

Nope.

Almost looks dry in one or two corners. Should dry out fine for FP2 imo

fp1 will be a 40 minutes session for the big boys waiting for the cleaners to rubber the track, still better than what we have seen this year in other FPs.

Not raining at the mo but track is wet.

Not being funny, but does Singapore 'have' to be a night race? Looks pretty good in the daylight. I fear that a wet evening race is a no-go'er because of visibility.

Because other than "night atmosphere" this GP doesn't add anything to the F1. Especially with this dull track

Okay, the Gp2 session is over now. The rain stopped and the track started drying up. I see some chance that we will see some dry running later in the first session. The layout is very narrow, that helps the drying, but humidity is extremely high, that hurts it, so let's see!

That is just total rubbish - they do not have adverts every 10 mins or on fact anything like it.

Anyway just watch it live in HD on the BBC....oh wait.

I'm just glad that i'm sat indoors for this one, rather than being soaked and in pain by Eau Rouge

That's a great angle on Alonso's car. I do like unusual camera angles on the car, rather than buy into the hoo-ha over helmet cameras.

I've always thought it looks better in daylight. Night races just do nothing for me.
