Why'd you book your holidays before the calendar was officialarised! :stoned:

You know what the FIA are like, they'll make minor changes to anything provisional just because they can. I'm intrigued as to the reasonings behind all this, though. Such as switching Japan with Korea.

Edit: Grand Prix of Jersey sounds much better than Grand Prix of the Americas or whatever the hell it's called. But ideally it would be United States Grand Prix East and United States Grand Prix South

Please no, I hated those old names :(

I think Jersey will be very surprised to find that they've got a race, being an island in the English Channel. :)

Due to work, I had to book my holidays last Tuesday.

I booked 3 weeks to cover any potential of moving wither Spa or Monza.

I didn't expect them to move Spa due to the enforced 4 week break. Which is now 3 weeks.

Can't you ask your employer to change it? Sounds harsh that you can't.

Otherwise - sick days...

There is more of a chance of the FIA changing it than my employer.

The FIA might have to change it because I think there might be complaints from the teams as they are supposed to have a 4 week holiday. The new calendar says 3 weeks. The calendar is actually against the rules, so the dates may have to change.

I think most Americans when they see 'Jersey' will think of the the place oposite New York?
There never was a USGB South.the US West was hardly ever used by promoters of Long Beach.New Jersey certainly looks more promising than the middle of the Texas desert

28 July (Hungary) - 25 August (Spa) is four weeks. Is that four week holiday supposed to exclude an extra week to prepare for Spa, i.e. making the summer break five weeks? If they do make it a week later then I might be able to go so I hope for your sake and mine they change it.

I am particularly disappointed that both the European double-headers (Hungary/Germany and Belgium/Italy) are now two weeks apart. I was hoping to do a double-bill in one holiday.

I don't see why. Bahrain is an island in the Gulf and they've got a GP unfortunately. Jersey has a rally and a hill climb, and it is a tax haven, where Bernie keeps severla of his shell companies, so it would be ideal!

And the event in NEW Jersey is looking distinctly rocky anyway.

I'm glad that I did the double header of Germany & Hungary last year - both races won by McLaren. And this year when I attended the Canadian GP, they won again, McLaren should consider paying me to attend all 20 races .

Is it Nurburgring or Hockenheim in Germany?

Trick question. The Nurburgring and Hockenheim are both in Germany.

yeah normally it would be the Nürburgring. But it still isn't clear whether they will race there due to the financial problems...

Wasnt the new deal about splitting the bill with rotation?
By that logic next year should be the Nurburgring (south).

Ah, but the lure of Istanbul means I might be able to swing that as a holiday with the wife and take in a GP at the same time. Some of us need tactics like that if we can't justify spending a lot for just a trip to a GP alone ;)

Is the German GP even fixed yet?

IIRC Nürburgring is bankrupt and it was unsure whether Hockenheim would step in.

MotoGP had previously moved the German round at the Sachsenring from the 14th to the 7th so that it wouldn't clash with the F1 race. Now F1 have moved their round, they are clashing once more. D'oh!

Moving the German Grand Prix forward rather throws a spanner in the works for the Festival of Speed.

Would prefer to see a return to Austria than Turkey, the problem in Turkey isn't the racing or the track but the lack of fans.

Put that circuit elsewhere (say France or Spain or even Abu Dhabi) and it would be considered a modern classic track.

Wouldn't a French Grand Prix be more likely at this point than Turkey?

Unless that was just all talk as usual.

The new promoter at Istanbul is apparently guaranteeing 50,000 fans and is hopeful of getting 80,000 through the door. Sounds a bit optimistic to me!

It's the one weekend when I'll be happy to record the race.

It'll be interesting to see if attendance is down, I know many folk do go to Goodwood to see the modern machinery.

The plans for French Grand Prix seem to have fallen apart, while there is apparently someone willing to revive the race in Istanbul.

I'll welcome back either Austria or Turkey :)

Would like to see a GP at Portimao in Portugal but unlikely to materialise.
I guess it's between Austria and Turkey with France off the radar, maybe Qatar, although not in Europe, still has a shot too.

It may not be the most beautiful circuit but one of the best F1 races this year was at Valencia...
I actually find Barcelona a more boring track.

Er, no. Qatar isn't in Europe. They've said a European race. Therefore why would Qatar have a shot at a 2013 race as a replacement for New Jersey?

this is also the date of the German Grand Prix in Moto GP...
additionally it is the date of DTM race at the Norisring (highlight of the season)

Three German highlights at the same date....I expect some further changes

Hmm I'd like the Red Bull Ring to be included
They sort of have earned a proper home race after their success the last 3 years
Plus it's not that far from here and in nice surroundings ;)

I'd be happy with that - plus Austin is more in primetime for European viewers so may be an incentive to put to Bernie.

Nothing beats the Brazilian title decider though!

If this happens, I will be hoping that it still goes down to the wire, earlier, in Brazil!

Bernie Quashes Austria rumors

"I have spoken to no one about it," Ecclestone told Kleine Zeitung.

"Right now I'm thinking about Turkey to return to Istanbul."

Ecclestone also highlighted that lodging in Austria is a problem and added that it was not essential for the 20th race slot to be filled next year, adding that he expects to make a final decision "early next week".

"Right now I rather think that we will go in to next year with only 19 Grand Prix. That would be no problem for Formula One."

now knowing bernie, i'd say that there is now a 'Strong' possibility that Austria may be on 2013 calender cause he 'Strongly' denied it. :p

Disappointing to see that we have a 3 week break between Canada and Britain, then a race the next weekend (good) but then another 3 week gap, before the 4 week summer break. In effect, we're going to have just 4 races (Canada, Britain, Germany and Hungary) in 11 weeks.
