I'm a Composite Design Engineer, I've had some exposure to CFD but thats only in the Aircraft industry looking to following my love, passion and what drives me in my career.

If you have composites experience and can use Catia V5 then you have a good chance. Most F1 teams make extensive use of contractors so that might be another route in.

Contracting is a very risky I feel, as there is no job security.

I have composites experience and my company is building a new site for the expansion of their composites facilities.

CATIA v5 I have very extensive background, I feel that it is strong enough but I have been self taught. I work in aerospace as lone Design Engineer, taken concepts through to major design reviews and now detailed reviews. I'm attempting soon to get all the Dasssault Systemes certifications that should put me strong.

I'm really loving my job at the moment and its going to be a big decision to leave somewhere I feel that I can really stay for a long time and really fine tune the rest of my business knowledge.

naiboz you cheeky sod! :D

A lot of getting into F1 is down to an element of luck so don't take it too personal if you don't get in this time, also the HR departments can be very poor at sorting the wheat from the chaff and the CV's they pass on to the heads of department can seem to be plucked at random. It's also worth passing your CV on to recruitment agencies as that can be another route in.

Very true words. Most of the HR departments are worth their weight in cow dung but have to be negociated. You will have to be prepared to take a lowly position at first. It does get easier with experience though & there is a high degree of personell change between teams. It's not the 'dreamworld' you'd imagine- people get bored, stuck in a rut & disallusioned. Only a very few have the opportunity to really influence anything. Most designers just churn out the same old stuff, with only subtle differences, year after year.
