I think it's 50% Felipe 40% Hulk 10% Schumi or someone else, at this point. Hulk will have lost some credit now after Di Resta's strong showing at Singapore - just like at Toro Rosso, the Force India drivers are cancelling each other's chance to look good. I can't see Di Resta to Ferrari, it's a total misfit of personality and Ferrari actually consider that as a factor. It's not like Hulk is a stereotypical cheap-talking, womanizer Italian neither but he's better than funeral-personified Paul. Even if Paul's probably just about slightly the better driver.

Funny, cuz Di Resta seems to have bags more personality than Hulkenberg, but that could simply be the language shyness on the Hulk's part. I dont see that this would matter too much. Both drivers seem to be about equal overall and both have lots of potential and raw talent. I'd welcome either one to Ferrari, short or longer term.

Who I really want to see in Ferrari(other than Vettel) is Grosjean one day. Wont happen with his current manager, but I think he's gonna be one of the newer talents that rises above the current crop.

Romain's certainly got the pace but he's going to have to trim down the crashing a lot if he's ever to claim a seat like that.

I just dont see Vettel going to Ferrari for 2014.

Red Bull gets left without a lead driver? Dont think so.

I think Massa will get a year's extension, then Webber will go there for 2014 as Alonso's #2. I dont think that boat has 100% completely sailed for Webber, if he's strong enough for Red Bull in the first half of 2013 and Massa stinks it up again, I dont think he'll be conned into staying at Red Bull again. Not after the way things have gone since Silverstone this year.

Thats still a step back from Vettel. I think they'd be wise to do whatever they can to keep Vettel, which is part of why I dont think its at all certain Vettel would leave for Ferrari.

SV will be in the same situation as LH. He will want to leave no matter what. They will be wise, yes, and do whatever they can to keep him, and he will be wise enough to leave whatever they offer.

Qualifying wise yes. Race speed? No. Racing intelligence? No. So they won't go backwards much. In a lot of ways Kimi is the better of Vettel.

I don't think there's a single reason to choose Massa over Schumacher. It would do wonders for F1, Schumacher, Alonso, Ferrari, and so forth. I even think Massa would have a better time outside of Ferrari at this point. Either in a Sauber or in an IndyCar.

Ferrari's Attempt to Lure Raikkonen Back to Ferrari is Delaying Massa'a Contract Renewal

In Maranello they are considering a return that would be sensational, one that would solve a fundamental problem of the last three years: get as many points as possible.

No way Kimi is playing second fiddle to Alonso. Also, Lotus fits Raikkonen a lot better, not as much sponsor activities as Ferrari and a lot more relaxed atmosphere.

It is. Theyre both top material but Vettel is way younger. Performance wise you get the same but for less time. Kimi would do the job as well as anyone while next RB young star rises, and he fits perfectly in RB. I wouldnt dismiss this course of action.

Ferrari can only get Kimi again if they pay him sick load of money. I don't think Kimi's management would agree a cheap or loose contract with them after what happened. But if Ferrari really want Kimi back I think they will get him. It would be, if not great, at least interesting.

Seems alright to me.

And I see that Kimi fans got defensive over my comment about him not being as good as Vettel. Should have expected that, I guess.

Anyways, Ferrari know what they'd be getting with Kimi. I dont see it happening unless Kimi takes a large paycut. No way are Ferrari gonna pay him big bucks after last time.

I dont think it'd end up nearly as great as some people think it would. Alonso would be a much tougher opponent than Rosberg and Schumacher's already having a tough time trying to beat him.

I am very surprised at the Hulk and Di Resta rumors. You have to ask yourself if either of them get the drive what is the point in the Ferrari driver academy when they refused to sign Perez for not being experienced enough?

Best option over Massa right now?

Schumacher. Why?

I dont think it would worry Alonso to much as Alonso would be faster than Schumacher on most race weekends. It is a bigger name than Massa which is what Alonso has apparently asked for.

Bernie should be pushing to make this happen it would be good box office for him am sure.

I doubt it was his lack of experience. More likely they just weren't as impressed with him as some other people seem to be. A driver academy can only do so much. They cant force a driver to get better. Lots of reasons to doubt whether Perez was right for the job.

I dont remember him asking for a bigger name. The most he's said is that if Ferrari are going to replace Massa, they should find somebody they can be confident will actually be better than Massa. Otherwise its just a step to the side or even backwards, which would be pointless.

Nah, I don't expect Schumacher to beat Alonso a lot, but he will no doubt make it a good show and give him a run for his money.
Both are great racers to see and to pair these two drivers would be great for Ferrari and great for F1 imo.

Yeah. I wonder if Ferrari love him so much to invest big sums in him again. And possible compensation for Lotus..

I feel Massa's getting paid more at Ferrari than Kimi at Lotus this year. Of course Kimi will get paid better at Ferrari than at a money starpped Lotus.

If Vettel is moving, Schumacher is the better choice for one year; if no Vettel Kimi is the better choice long term. What Ferrari needs are points scored from two drivers, not just one as it is now. As for Ferrari not picking up Perez they most likely had their reasons, one thing is what we see on TV, the other things is what's really happening, and I doubt it's the old Fernando is scared line.

I'm sure,as i & others have posted, they know who will be driving for them in 2014,LdM comments on Perez were telling, depending on translation it was that he wasn't ready or experienced enough meaning IMO that they have signed or have an agreement with one of the leading drivers, probaly Vettel but maybe Kubrica.

Kubica is not F1 material at least in the short run, he is handicapped, forget it.
Massa does not deserve the drive since he came back from his accident, he's worse season after season and a clear obstacle for the WCC. But if Ferrari have been dumb enough to keep him for so long I really doubt they're going to get rid of him now especially when it's likely they have Vettel signed for 2014. Hearsay becomes reality lately so the latter might be quite true.

If Massa loses his seat, I hope it's Schumacher. He has been pretty racy this year in a mediocre car. He would have been an outstanding partner for Button... I think McLaren missed a nice opportunity.

I am sure Alonso would trash who ever comes as a replacement for Massa - he is now driving better than ever. Massa knows the team very well, other drivers would simply struggle to adjust.. They will all just perform like Fisichella did.. and when that happens we'll have 789 pages of Alonso and his # 1 status.
Mark my words.

I don't think he would trash Michael Schumacher that easily. He has done a great job this season given his car and technical issues... I do agree, Alonso would win, of course.

However, the 2000 Schumacher, would probably beat Alonso quite often.

Indeed Ferrari management has made it abundantly clear they are looking for firm #2, I really find it hard to fathom why Räikkönen anymore than Schumacher would fancy being Alonso's whipping boy.

So have you heard them saying they are interested about Hulkenberg or Di Resta? Both of them are average and not anymore experienced than Perez.British media seem to think Di Resta is something special but so far he hasn't done anything that would show he is...Hulkenberg's Ferrari connections come because he is managed by W.Weber, but he too have only achieved some good drives.Ferrari knows excatly how good Perez is, he has driven their simulation and other tests.

Alonso would surely be hard to beat but he wouldn't trash Vettel,Hamilton or Kimi for that matter. He didn't trash Hamilton back in 2007 and just because he is now driving better than ever doesn't mean he would trash him now...actually if some as competitive driver as Alonso would join him, it would put him under more pressure and he would start making mistakes as he did back in 2007.

My best guess is Massa retained for another year. He is improving again what may help his cause. But the strongest point going for him is that he is exactly what Alonso wants to have for teammate: A lap dog that won't harm his aspirations even if it means that his team can't win the constructors title.
But the other title has never been a concern for Asonlo.

Anyone else taking up the ride concedes that he will never be WDC in his career anymore and now goes for the money that comes with the honor of being a Ferrari driver but also with the humiliation of becoming Asonlo's lap dog.

I think Alonso´s only wish is that he won´t have to experience 2007 again. It is the same like Senna and Prost. After teir time together, they had no intention to come into such a situation again.

Charisma doesn't win F1 races. If F1 were a personality contest then most of the grid would be missing. Besides, Ferrari already had a monotone 'darlek' in Kimi. As for your jibe against di Resta, I don't see a problem. He's probably one of the better ones at handling the questions the media throw at him.

F1 | Ferrari: Nico Hulkenberg avrebbe già firmato

Londra, 2 ottobre 2012 – Ultim’ora.

Yeah, let's just jump to conclusions, preferably those in line with our prejudices.

You know pretty well that there is a lot more to driver signings than the drivers attributes. Like sponsor connections, marketing, etc. Hülkenberg might simply be a better commercial fit while arguably, at this point in time, a similar performance prospect to Perez. With the latter, while he has been impressive on occasion, he has also been mediocre on others. The highs, his two second place finishes, came about under rather special circumstances I see let's see how he does after 6 or so races in a top team vs. Button before declaring him the next big thing.

Hulkenberg has no sponsors, he has no backing at all, he´s his own man, so considering that, a seat with Force India for one year or a seat with Ferrari for one year?

If he does better than Massa (not a difficult task) and scores a few podiums, his value will increase.

Let's be honest - if you (or me) were Hulk you'd take such opportunity without a second of hesitation. A year in Ferrari could rejuvenate his career and reputation. As well as bury it though.

I can't see Vettel pairing up with Alonso - it's gonna end in tears. Webber, Button or even Rosberg would have been much more ideal to team up with Alonso, and, as things stand now, it's only Webber or possibly Kubica who could become Fernando's team mate in 2014, as fas as older drivers are concerned.

Of the younger drivers it is said that Nico Hulkenberg has already a contract with Ferrari, and he could indeed do great.

Also let's see how the Force India/Mallya situation develops financially, both Hulk and di Resta could be out of a ride by the end of this year. I am sure shrewd oldtimers like Luca di Montezemolo (in F1 since 1974, on and off of course, but that's 38 years in touch with the sport!) are watching many factors.

So if the announcement is not "imminent" as reported (e.g. Massa or Schumacher) I suspect the thing to go on till season's end.

None of that matters in the context of Ferrari's stated reason for not hiring Perez. In terms of experience Hulk is not a step up from Perez.

Hulkenberg already signed with Ferrari for 2013, announcement not before the Korean GP.

The site is not to be trusted, two days ago it wrote it's Massa or Kimi who gets the seat lol. I myself think Massa will continue and would be surprised to see him replaced with Hulkenberg who is ok but nothing special.
