That's why I despise him. A careless, spoilt brat he is.

Would any of those drivers really care, no. Kimi says how it really is.

Why should he care? It's always a risk waiting untill the last few minutes, knowing a yellow could ruin your qualifying, mistakes happen people, get over it.

Well his whole manner was quite rude I thought; the body language, looking away all the time, terse answers, trying to walk away. I like Kimi, but this was not cool it was lacking respect, afaic.

"...what happened?"

"I spun. "

It was just too sod-off.

Q: Kimi what happened?
A: I spun.
Q It affected the others
A: I don't care about the others.
Q What about the race?
A: I don't know...

So, informative and sophisticated... As always... :drunk:

I don't see where Raikkonen said anything wrong but I also don't understand why what he said makes him so cool either.

BTW - I am just killing time waiting on the Vettel decision.

According to Raikkonen's fans, everything he does, says or thinks is unbelievably cool.

It was "sod off, and let me lick my wounds alone". Not apropriate, but nothing to do with respect either.

I fail to see the issue. It's not unsportsman like, it's not disrespectful, it's not anything remotely negative as far as him saying he doesn't care if his spin affected other drivers. Why should he care? It affected him as well, and understandably he's only interested in how it affected him, not how it affected anyone else.

Sounds like you have never seen an interview with Raikkonen before. He is who he is. No surprise there. Sure, comes of a bit rude. But he is honest. "Decency" or "courtesy" doesnt change a damn thing about what happened. He was most likely mad like hell at himself, so that probably didnt help his demeanor.

Did you not read my post? So the fact that it won't change anything means you have a right to be rude (even you called it)?

And I've seen his interviews plenty of times. I've also seen how he shoved a marshall, pushed a photographer to the ground, etc. Kimi fans are a puzzling lot. Everything the man does is considered 'cool'. I am an Alonso fan and I have plenty of criticisms about him.

I suppose Alonso's fans would have expected the corner to apologize for impeding him?

Wow. So much whinging over nothing. Is there really nothing better to complain about today?
I think if it shows anything, it's that he's pissed off and actually "cares" about getting the best result possible.

I don't really know about that, but I have never seen them cooing about how cool Alonso is after a rather rude reply on a live TV. Not that Raikkonen was terrible, mind you, but there is a major difference between saying "he was not that bad" and saying "he was rude, and that's awesome" :)

Kimi has always been a special character in F1. He can do and say whatever he wants and still be awesome. It's an unwritten rule of Formula One.

Not a particularly big fan of Kimi, I find it surprising that so many fans find a lack of manners "cool". What he said wasn't that bad but pretty unsporting, if Lewis, Fernando or Vettel had said it there would be a 30 page long thread about what awful people they are!

Funny how people complain about drivers all talking only corporate bs and they also complain when someone is being honest.

People criticizing because of him being and a-hole...

he's just a d!ck speaking up his mind. He's geniune and honest but that doesn't mean he can't be a d!ckhead and people should give him a break just because he speaks his mind.

I don't think anybody should have a problem with what he said. If he cares or not about what he does shouldn't matter.

The way F1 is going I wait for the day when they will give penalties for causing an unnecessary yellow flag....I mean if you lose your car and touch someone in qualy (and destroy his fast lap) you probably get a grid drop. if you destroy it by causing a yellow flag you STILL get away with it. We should enjoy this while it lasts

No, you should apologize to other drivers, viewers at home and to Bernie for ruining the end of Q3. And then you should remember to thank the sponsors.

He is one of the fairest drivers out there, if not the fairest. Sportsmanship argument does not sell at all.

Yup & many drivers have said that about him.

I really shouldnt get involved in this, cause I dont care one way or the other, but...

1) Does someone actually think Alonso is 'cool'? I suppose so, but he seems more of a primadonna type to me?

2) We will have to wait for Alonso to say actually something 'rude' ie. sincere and brutally honest (unless it serves their agenda). Because his type of public figures rarely do so.

3) Only Kimi haterz have said he was rude, I don't think his fans think so, therefore they don't say he was rude AND awesome. They say he's what he is, and that's cool.

4) Only the Alonso brigade (gross generalisation, I know) are saying he's rude and should apologize. See 2).

It was a mistake, not the fancy way to talk after compromising his rivals.

But no big deal, his words can't change the past. As he says no point crying over spilled milk. If I were a rival I'd prefer him not to cause more yellows for a lot of gps than some nice words after doing it again. And Kimi can manage the first.

Brilliant and classic Kimi. Why should it matter to him that other drivers laps got ruined? He's probably more concerned about his own.

Really? "Yes", "no", "I don t know", "I don t care"... Those are his most frequently used words or sentences to describe something... But does he in reality describe something? To me it looks like he has no opinion at all... Or even don t know what to say about some matters... What is so extraordinary about this, is probably beyond my understanding...

Yeah I'm sure he was frustrated as hell. And is frustrated generally perhaps, because he's not quite back to where he was yet.

Still, there's line between being cool/genuine and something less attractive.

1) To you, but I am convinced that you do not set the standards for all F1 supporters. So yes, you can bet that some people think he is "cool".
2) Alonso has often been sincere and brutally honest, and has been dissed by some people who have no problems when it is somebody else who does so.
3) I am not a Raikkonen hater, and I think he is rude. Which is not surprising, given his personal background, and hence nothing to dismiss him for - but again, there is a big difference between not using it against him, and thinking that replying "I was having a s**t" is the epithomy of coolness.
4) Gross generalisation, totally biased and hence totally inappropriate. Have you asked every single person here who thought Raikkonen was rude which driver they support, or are you passing a personal opinion as a fact? And by the way, I am not saying he should apologise: I am saying that he was neither awesome nor cool in his comment.

You have to understand Kimi's personal moral code. Have you ever heard him complain much about misfortunes, sc, yellows etc? No. He deals with these as part of the game (and probably expects others to do so). He's probably caught hundreds of yellow flags over his career that other drivers caused with no complaints, so why would he "apologize" or care if he spins (and the yellow go out?) Its just the way it goes.

It was like the most useless answer you can give to a question. Everybody knew he had spun so what was the point of giving a stupid answer?

Pretty stupid question though.

Quite obvious question deserved a quite obvious answer.

What would a better answer be?

I spun.

I drove to fast into the corner.

I made a mistake.

I didn't complete the lap.

I lost the car entering the corner, didn't manage to correct the slide that followed due to taking too much speed into the corner. As a consequence of this I spun out of the corner and off the track into the gravel trap where I got stuck. As a consequence of that I was unable to rejoin the track which in turn led to a yellow flag in the sector where I had just spun off. This also meant I couldn't improve on my previous best time and of course this is a bit of a dissapointment as we looked quite ok for a good grid position today.

I thought about teddy bears.

So, from now on, we should wait to hear apolgize from every driver who spun out in race and cause safety car situation, as that always mess up some others race. I am amazed why thus far nobody in this forum hasnt been upset because drivers who brought out safety car hasnt been very vocal about how truly sorry they are for ruining driver x´s race.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you people?
