So you dont ever apologize to people if you accidentally do something that affects them negatively? As people have pointed out he didn't do it on purpose so he had no reason to apologize.

Seriously. what are you on about?
Do you usually hear the other drivers excusing themselves for causing yellow flags in situations like this? There is nothing to apologize, absolutely nothing.

Vettel - His finger at every pole/win, not PRed, hated all over
Alonso - Abu Dhabhi 2010, hand waving at Petrov, not PRed, hated all over
Hamilton - Monaco 2011, his remarks for stewards, not PRed, hated all over
Maldonado - Whole 2012, remarks about his luck with stewards, hated all over
Kimi- 2009 end, expressing his motivation for F1, not PRed, FERRARI hated all over
Kimi- Japan 2012, well, appreciated for his "HONESTY"

Thats not what I said. I said that its proper to apologize to somebody even if what you did wasn't on purpose. You seriously want him to apologise?

I'm not gonna read through this idiotic thread, but I'm curious: is there any post in here that shows (all) other drivers apologize to the rest of the field after causing a yellow or red flag in practice or qualifying?
You can probably find plenty of examples of them saying sorry on camera, I doubt they mean it though.

None, of course. And nobody expect them to either. Double standards..

Jesus Christ, when did F1 become such a soft sport? I wouldn't care if I were in his position. It is poor sportsmanship to say the least.

I have not heard drivers apologizing for causing yellow or red flags. Why should Kimi? It's part of the luck factor in F1 and same for everyone. If you destroy somebody's lap, you shouldn't say "I don't care".
Or do you think he made it purposely to stop drivers leapfrogging him? In that case he should be penalized, but even Schumi did not apologize for what he did once in Monaco

Sometimes I do, however an apology isn't really necessary in this instance.

From the video, i think the annoyance is due to the cockiness and arrogance. He was just rude, plain and simple especially when he said he spun. There is no need for him to apologize.... he just need to grow up a bit i think?

There is no problem supporting the guy only that there should be consistency in what we say about drivers. Iam sure if that was Hamilton, it would be a thousand comments by now and headlines in newspapers describing him as arrogant and throwing his prams. Kimi was not funny. He just couldn't be bothered. If he does not want to answer the question, then say no comment. No need to act like a prick. It's why many - like me - like him. No BS, no politics, he said the truth and only the truth.

Yeah because that's what sports fans really want to see, people saying "no comment" during interviews...
Give it a rest on the name calling as well, it wasn't a long thought out interview with him saying he didn't care about the other drivers, it was an off hand comment during a moment of frustration for him and his team.
Of course he didn't care about the other drivers in that moment, he lost out just as much by spinning, and it was only an accident so there was nothing premeditated for him to apologise for.

I honestly don't get the obsession with this guy. He offers nothing to Formula One, apart from some decent driving now and again. And he has zero likeability and interest in anyone or anything apart from himself.

And for topic, all drivers have 10 minutes to complete their laps. Everyone takes this risk when leaving chances to one try, he doesnt need to apologize to anyone for his own mistake. Its good to have somebody who says things how they are, not what sponsors or anybody else wants.

From now on I expect every driver to publicly say something like "I'm very sorry to all other drivers for ruining the overtaking-opportunity in the sector where I made a mistake that put me out of the race" when he gets out of the car.
If someone causes a red flag during qualifying he should get a 5 place grid penalty so that he will learn to drive a little slower next time.
Jesus...
And what a great piece of interviewing it was, after a driver makes a mistake in qualifying causing a yellow flag... "What about the other drivers...."

It's called double standard. Kimi is hyped for being an arsehole, while others being hated for it.
At least Alo/Ham/Vet can respect fellow drivers, while Kimi can't.

I think every driver in the grid - and everybody overall working in F1 - know that Kimi is never a dirty driver and he respects others on the track, fighting hard but always giving room when its needed. So this big fuss about his comment is unnecessary.

I don't really see how you can throw a blanket over all those incidents. Kimi replied a bit grumpily and bluntly to some interview questions whereas the others involved various blame games and insults

I once accidentally farted in an elevator. The doors opened and a few people who were waiting there smelled it and waited for the next elevator. This made them a couple minutes late for work. later, some tv reporters asked me if I was sorry and I said no (hey, **** happens...everybody farts right?).

Pretty much sums up the thread, and the usual haters entering giving their "opinion" is such a surprise as well.

The guy has always been a dick, sure he's being honest and not messing about. But he's still a ********. I'm not sure why people enjoy it so much that Raikkonen seems so open or careless, when that open character is nothing interesting at all anyway. I didn't realise all you had to do to be 'awesome' was to be honest. John Terry when he racially abused Ferdinand was merely being honest with his feelings, that doesn't make him a better person.
I'm not saying I would prefer he lies, just that this whole honest character isn't really impressive either.
It seems like some people yearn so badly for any form of openness that even the most boring, lifeless and rubbish characters get heaps of praise just for being so.
Each to his own. I'm not one to get excited just because someone swore on TV or something, that doesn't exactly rate highly for me on how I judge someone to be awesome. It's not exactly like he's solving world hunger just because someone bent a few inconsequential rules. Yeah, Kimi is a real anarchist.
He's so
Agreed.
I remember back in 2005 a photo was being circulated in forums with Alonso in a boat and holding out his middle finger to the camera - which was Photoshopped no less - and he was labeled all sorts of things from being disrespectful to a total jerk. Yet when Kimi showed the middle finger (no Photoshop) to the camera this year, his crazy fans were saying how cool he is and finding it so hilarious that he 'just doesn't give a damn about anything'.
There is nothing cool about Kimi.

This bizarre adoration of "Kimi being Kimi" is mad. I understand - he is a good driver and he is back, yay! - but how long will it take until people (re) realize that there's absolutely nothing cool about the guy; that behind the taciturn facade and monosyllabic speech there's a whole lot of nothing? I know most F1 drivers are not cool or fun, so there's this clutching-at-straws desire to fish out something exciting... but Kimi? Good lord, what desperate state of affairs we are at when this guy is deemed cool. What's next, people worshipping at the altar of the next driver to toss away his steering wheel in disgust?
I think the reason that many get riled by the idea of many finding kimi "cool" is because there is a very large, yet select group of people that tend to like 'characters' and then there are those who simply don't have the time of day for them. Kimi is one of those rare characters - they are who they are and they never change.
