Sauber have announced that Monisha Kaltenborn will take over from Peter Sauber as Team Principal with immediate effect.

Congrats to her. (And congrats to Peter for 20 yrs in F1; quite an achievement). They seem to be on the up, so I think she's been a good addition. Nice to see a chic...er, a woman swimming with the pirranhas. I think she has it all under control. :up:

Congrats to Monisha Kaltenborn for becoming the first female F1 team principle! Good for her, I guess she'll do quite well, she does have experience with the Sauber team.

Regarding Sauber himself, good bye and good riddance, Peter. Thanks for bringing in so many great talents in F1 over the years. :cry:

Feel good stories are rare in F1 but this is one, a breath of fresh air. Nice to see Peter Sauber doing this when thre team is having a great season.

Definitely. :up: It's almost always better to take that step back when your team is doing good. Not only doesn't it feel like a forced step and related negative vibes, it also makes it easier for the successor since he or she doesn't instantly become swamped by problems.

"Good riddance" means "**** off" essentially (or "we're glad to see the back of you" to put it more politely).

Is that what you meant? It seems to clash with the rest of what you said.

No need to feel stupid. I'm sure any of us would make mistakes trying to speak in a language we're not entirely familiar with. You're intentions were good and that's all that matters. :)

Well very good for her she's already highly regarded in her current role, I'm sure she'll do a great job as team principal. I hope Peter Sauber can still attend a few races as well, a lot of respect for the man.

Good to see more female involvement in F1, and she seems really nice and also very clued up as well.

As for Peter, sad to not see him on the pit wall so often, I get the feeling he is probably quite a reassuring presence in the team. :|

Well deserved promotion. I like her as a person as she seems to have good balance of passion, pride, emotion, flexibility and responsibility towards her job, that as well as her management skill she'll probably be looked up by all team members and her becoming principal will only do good for Sauber's future.

Many congratulations Monisha and keep up the great work!.....and please sign Kobayashi for 2013 if possible as he alo deserve something nice for what he has done for the team haha, just saying :kiss: :lol:

Saw this coming from a mile away, Peter's not been 100% in it for a while now. He wanted to retire years ago but stayed on to give the team some stability after that clown Theissen and his posse left. Enjoy your well deserved retirement Peter. :up:

Fairly certain Sauber even stated as much a few months back. I think she has been running the shop for a while and this is just Peter "officially" handing her the keys.

Anyway, great to see women getting involved in the sport now right at the top. She's of Indian heritage too so that should be worth some brownie (read: Bernie) points :p

I wish we could debate this (underlined) point in here, but we can't, unfortunately. It is undisputed, that is, Mr. Sauber is obviously trusting her. I do not know who actually assembled current team, but based on results, it is working. Time will tell how seriously she will be taken in the future around the table when other piranhas will sit down to talk business.

This was expected. She has pretty much run the team for quite a bit now. This is just for show really. There was an interview with them both a few months ago and it was made clear that she was pretty much going to be taking over.

She is an asset to F1. Not just because she is a woman, but because she is good at her job.

Kaltenborn has been Chief Executive of Sauber for some years now, and has been gradually taking over duties from Peter in that time - including sitting around the table with the rest of them. She's no new face.

Good move for the team, and nice to see a woman succeeding in such a male-dominated sport. I wish Peter a happy retirement (or semi-retirement, as he's still president of the board of directors).

Don't feel stupid. The Brits butchered the english language, it took us Yanks to save it... DOH!! :wave: Seriously, it's tough. There are many things that sound the same, are spelled differently and many native speakers don't seem to comprehend that.

I agree, Peter Sauber is a class act. Kaltenborn will do just fine. They've done well with what funds they've had.

As for the other poster mentioning a Schumacher return yet again, I don't think that would be in the best interest of the team. Even though Sauber said a week or two back he'd sign him. It would be popular but they should groom a young, hungry driver. MS as a driver coach or consultant, that would be fantastic. For any team.

Slightly OT.
Can anyone remember the name of the woman who was the Team Manager for Sauber in their Group C days?


Was it Carmen Ziegler? I think she was also involved when the team debuted in F1, but left soon afterwards.
