Dear colleagues and Motorsport enthusiasts,
Icame across recently an Obituary for the above lady, who left us early in 2011.She was in partnership with Oliver Sear at snetterton. She was a formidable and astute businesswoman, who sold her(their )shares to Oliver Sear in 1963 or thereabouts.
She was born locally, and married Fred Riches whilst on a 48 hour pass from the WAAF,which she had joined either before or at the outbreak of hostilities.
She went on to breed pigs at Heath Farm in Quidenham, very successfully, then gave this up to breed racing Greyhounds, winning several trophies.
At one point ,she bought a shop in Attleborough, but was furious to find that her husband had to countersign for her!
Later in her life, she became Office Manager at Omar Mobile Homes in Brandon.
Upon retirement, she took great pleasure in growing roses in her six acre garden at Heath Farm, she then moved out to surlingham, where she peacefully passed away.
Ihave two questons:-1.Why did she sell snetterton when she did,and was her marriage to Fred still intact?
2,Why did she decide to breed pigs, and having become so good at it,what made her chang tack and go on to breed greyhounds?
Iknow that Oliver Sear and Fred Riches were jointly involved in building and running the old A11 shell garage, maybe they were too busy......
I hope my questions are not too intrusive, and any family members are not offended.
Any information to help fill the gaps would be gratefully recieved,
Yours in anticipation,
carrotcruncher.
