I am pretty sure this is a question that is raced often. I will be attending the GP of Austin and they haven't announced if they will have a pitwalk for the general public (ala Indy / Montreal). Are there any other ways of getting access to the pits, short of purchasing the Paddock Club tickets?

If there's no pitwalk then you have very little chance of getting in. The only other longshot that I can think of that's worked for a few people is begging a couple of teams on twitter to have a garage tour or something.

I met some guys at the Belgian GP who bullshitted their way into the Marussia garage. They sent all the teams fake letters from their company saying they were interested in sponsoring an F1 team, Marussia invited them in for a private tour of the garages after the days practice on the Friday
