9/10 easily.

Best Driver: Kimi Raikkonen. Hamilton was very good but only Kimi was completely faultless, even under great pressure. Great drive from Alonso as well, especially that streak of FLs.
Worst Driver: have to say Mark Webber. Perez was pretty fast at least.
Best Team: Lotus, followed by Williams.
Best Overtake: Vettel on Button :up:

Best Moment: Many great moments, Kimi's yeeeehaaa! after crossing the finish stands out.
DRS + Tyres: quite OK in the end.
And the race in a sentence.... Everything a modern F1 race can offer from the ridiculous to the sublime.

Best Driver: Hard to seperate Kimi, Alonso and Lewis. Nod to Vettel for recovering from his opening laps.
Worst Driver: Perez
Best Team: Lotus were top scorers I believe?
Best Overtake: Alonso on Webber. Vettel on Button
Best Moment: I enjoyed Kimi's yes yes yes
DRS + Tyres: DRS worked ok. Tyres were like the Bridgestone's of yesteryear
And the race in a sentence... Edge of seat stuff!

Best Driver: Kimi. 4th fastest car. But a perfect race in strategy and consistency. Hamilton, Vettel and Alonso in their normal exceptional quality.
Worst Driver: Perez. He seems a bit overconfident. Webber also underperformed.

Best Team: Lotus for finally getting it

Best Overtake: Vettel on Button

Best Moment: Kimi across the line

And the race in a sentence... leave him alone. He know what he is doing

Can't you guys understand that what makes a great race in F1 today isn't the tyres or the track or the whatever. It's random unpredictable events. And the reason for that has nothing to do with poor this or poor that, pirelli or tilke or runoffs or DRS, it has to do with the fact there's 6 ultra professional teams of people (drivers included) delivering to within thousands of what their 12 cars can deliver week in week out. So you need the je ne sais quoi factor to jumble them up and give you entertainment

9/10 thoroughly entertaining race overall. Some great driving, some absolutely terrible driving.

Best Driver - too close to call between Kimi/ alonso for me
Worst Driver - Perez
Best Team - lotus
Best Overtake - alonso on webber (I think?) quite early on
Best Moment - vettel's various escapades in the first third of the race, the best being the crashing into the drs sign
DRS + Tyres - tyres were conservative, drs was ok

I slightly disagree re vettel's move on button. I think button is very very easy to get by some times, others (particularly Hamilton, alonso and Kimi) are fair but also a lot less likely to just limply let the other guy go without at least squeezing him a bit.

Best Driver : Kimi
Worst Driver: Webber
Best Team: Williams
Best Overtake: were there any?
Worst Moment: a lot
DRS + Tyres: without DRS would have been a mess- tyres too durable

Best Driver - Kimi edges Lewis....because of the hilarious comments :lol:

Worst Driver - some...but Perez annoyed me the most
Best Team - six different teams on first six places...so pretty close, no one was outstanding
Best Overtake - Alonso on Webber. Great move. And an important one too.
Best Moment - Kimi communication
DRS + Tyres - DRS quite good, tyres again on 1-stopp. So too durable (but I think in this race it didn't matter)
And the race in a sentence... - best with Valencia, I'm pretty surprised, but i'm still hating car parks.

Best Driver: Sebastian Vettel, but there were a few good ones (and a few stinkers)
Worst Driver: Sergio Perez. Sorry lad, but you've been pretty scruffy as of late.
Best Team: Lotus, I suppose, or Red Bull.
Best Overtake: Vettel on Button.
Best Moment: Kimi getting his first win since I was a 15-year old boy (wow!).
DRS + Tyres: Tyres were good, DRS was probably too long but you can't really pass around here without it so...
And the race in a sentence... Well I'll be, carparks can produce exciting races!

Some great moments, people gaining time and catching up opponents lap by lap, the way it should be :up:

The year is almost over, but, looking back at this season, previous years stinker tracks have been this year's best rated races :drunk:

Don't understand why so many folks rate this as a 10. The race was dominated by costly mistakes which created the illusion of action.

None the less there were some very strong performances and all. I'd give this race 8 easily but the inconsistency of stewardship race to race pisses me off hence giving this one a 6.

10/10. Best race of the season and will go by as a classic, especially if it impacts the final WDC standings.

Best driver: Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton (until his failure) all had flawless races. But Vettel gets it for a truly epic drive with over 20 passes.
Worst driver: Perez for his mistake. Button, Massa, Senna and Webber get dishonourable mentions for being miles of their team mates.
Best team: Lotus, for finally clenching their win.
Best overtake: Alonso on Webber. Honourable mention to Vettel on Di Resta. He got most of his passes done at the first possibility, even on the faster drivers.
Best moment: Kimi on the team radio under the safety car.
DRS + Tyres: DRS was just about right, as evidenced by Vettel on Button. Tyres were too durable but that didn't stop the race from being exciting.

Race in a sentence: One of the best races in history on the worst track in history. Scratch that: "An awesome race on an awful track" is more down to earth.

I think you need to watch more than the last 2 or 3 seasons before you make a statement like that! One of the best races in history, with 0 on track lead changes other than when Hamilton retired, and plenty of boneheaded on track collisions and artificial jumbling of the order because of safety cars? I agree that it was one of the 3 or 4 best races of this season, but to even think it'd rank in the top 50 of all time is a little hasty. No argument on this being one of the worst tracks ever though, that's pretty clear.

You're probably right. People (me included) seem to overestimate amazing events right after they happen, and will normally take some time to properly rank them among similar events. The effect probably has some fancy name among psychologists. Calling it one of the greatest in history was indeed hasty, and I said it more for the contrast than anything else. In retrospect "awesome race on an awful track" would probably cover it.

I've been watching F1 since 1996 (quite a bit more than 2-3 years thankyouverymuch) and I remember a lot of great races since then. Call me back in a few weeks and I'll tell you how this ranks among them.

So you are implying it faster than the ferrari? Alonso was faster often than Kimi you can see it in the FL. Ferrari speed trap was superior also. Is it that difficult to admit sometimes, just sometimes it's not only Alonso that can make a difference?

'96, same year I started watching the sport! I know what you mean about that tendency, a little wikipedia searching found me the attentional bias effect- "the tendency of emotionally dominant stimuli in one's environment to preferentially draw and hold attention and to neglect relevant data when making judgments of a correlation or association". Sounds about right for why we think yesterday's race was so much better than all other races we've seen. I was lucky enough to have been at the race in Canada last year when Button went from last to first with his final lap pass on Vettel, and because it was a generally good race and mostly because I was there, I tend to rate that one of the "greatest of all time" even if it really wasn't as good as some events in the 70s or earlier. Of course, I'm ignoring the information that I had to hide under the grandstand in a downpour for 4 hours while the race was red flagged!

10 out of 10 nshould be reserved for true epics, not races where hlaf the fields brain goes to mush, the saftey car mixes things up and the eventual winner inherits the lead because the man who was the real class act retires die to a mechanical fault.

A good race, for me an 8 maybe even a 9. But lets be realistic.

Ferrari
Vettel on Button
Kimi's radio message
DRS + Tyres. Dont like one stop races, DRS balance seemed to be OK.
One god race doesnt make up for a dire track that shouldnt be graced by an F1 car or the World Championship.

Here, we were saying all this about Valencia and that was the best race of the season.
Lets wait and see.

Ferrari are coming with updates, redBull will be strong, but theyhave to use 2012 spec alternators again and McLaren are always good here.
It is a sunset start as well.

But this track has some of the most pointless, idiotic corners on the planet.

Just sayin. :smoking:

But I'm afraid my weakness is with lotto numbers :lol:

DRS + Tyres - DRS was OK, tyres allowed drivers to push - OK as well although not much variation in strategy

Best Moment: Kimi wins!!!!! Equaled by: Vettel on Podium!!!!!

DRS + Tyres: DRS was a blessing in this race, but if I had a choice I would still eliminate it from F1. Tyres were pretty swell

And the race in a sentence... : The most exciting race of the season (so far). I love all F1 races, and am always excited by them, so that actually says a lot in my case.

I won't argue that it was a great drive, but "pristine brilliance"? Pristine implies that he was totally flawless. He did bang off a portion of his front wing through an avoidable incident which was, lucky for him, repaired at almost no cost because of a well-timed safety car, and he nearly rear-ended an STR! Amazing driver, but I think even he would admit it was not his most flawless race and he had a fair helping of luck with the SCs and faster cars taking themselves out over and over again ahead of him. How many cars with race winning speed did he have to pass? Button and Rogro?

Can I ask why so many people chose Williams as the best team for this race?
- Maldonado had his failed KERS since lap 5.
- They kept Maldonado too long on the circuit when he was struggling on tyres.
- Maldonado had a slow pit stop and he was jumped by Webber due to that.
- Senna's pit stop was 6.6 seconds.

Is this for the fact that thanks to the slow pit stop, Webber had jumped in front of the Maldonado after his pit stop, and it was he, not Pastor, who was taken out by collision caused by Perez?

i dunno how smn can choose smn else than Lotus as best team. They had like in theory 4th fastest car, and delievered a win, eventho that they didnt when they had like 2nd fastest. THey made everything working together. clearly deserving best team.

My reaction was the same when I saw that. Suddenly out of nowhere, cold tyres. Then before, after, ever no cold tyres.

Or maybe Lewis just missed his breaking point by a tad.... ran wide... no biggie. ( busy selecting his fav iTunes -- as the car was just too good.... until it broke, that is)-- And didn't feel like explaining in the radio.
