Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes, Red Bull-Renault, Lotus-Renault, Mercedes, Williams-Renault

6 teams have won in 2012, when was the last time that happened?

if I am not mistaken 7 teams won a race in 1982 (Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Williams, Lotus, Tyrell and Brabham) and there were "only" 16 races that season

Don't know when that last happened, but 1982 had 11 winners from 7 teams.
We can't beat 11 winners anymore, but maaaaaaaaybe a Sauber victory in USA or Brazil?

The last time six teams won was 1983. As engel said, there were seven in 1982. There were also six in 1981, 1977. 1976 and 1975. The closest we've come recently is five in 2008 and 2003.

Also, eight different drivers winning is the highest since 2003 (also eight), with only 1975 (9) and 1982 (11) seeing more.

Interestingly the WCC gives 8 constructors as 1982 winners as Brabham-BMW is seen as a different constructor than Brabham-Ford even though it was the same team http://forix.autospo...&...amp;s=0&b=0

A pity that Sauber was not able to score a win this year (yet).

7 teams winning would have been a perfect result for 2012.

Interesting fact:

Every 'team' (some going by different names) that has won a Constructors Championship since the 70's has won a race this year:

Red Bull
Mercedes / Brawn
Ferrari
Williams
McLaren
Louts / Renault / Benetton

Do Mercedes/Brawn count as as Tyrell as well?

I can't think of any other season in which at least half the teams won. Of the aforementioned seasons, there were 5 winners out of 11 teams in 2003 and 2008, 6 out of 15 in 1983, 7 out of 17 in 1982, 6 out of 16 in 1981, and before that there were privateer teams in addition to the works outfits.
