There were only 20 options available so unfortunately many events were left out. Anyway it's a pretty simple question so not much to add there, but note that this is current events in their current form only, not some weird-ass races from the 80's or anything like that. Also notice that the best event does not necessarily equal the best circuit all the time.

Ps when I say "favourite street event", I do not necessarily only mean the headliner class only, but support events too (like WTCC/Bikes/GT/etc supporting the F3 Macau GP, ALMS/SCCA/Lights/TCP supporting Indycars at Long Beach etc), but obviously you determine what's your fav so... I'm rambling again

Pray, which one did you have in mind?

IMSA and Trans-Am had some doozies but I reckon the best was the original Nissan Mobil 500 circuit in Wellington, New Zealand. They cleaned it up a bit by the time the WTCC came to visit in 1987, but originally it checked all the stupid street course boxes: over-tight hairpin, fast chicane switching from one carriageway to the other, single-track section over a bridge, cars passing through outré bits of city architecture (in Wellington's case it was these wrought iron gates).

This was about present-day events...

And Risil, Wellington actually was one of those I had in mind when I said that ;) I guess that out of the options above Baltimore is the wackiest now

Still has to be Monaco... it's the King of street races!

Next has to be Macau, because of it's heritage and the fact that it's a mental track!

Congrats for finding a loophole, but would you ever describe that particular race as "street event" to anyone. And by this definition of yours we could almost start calling Le Mans a street race as it's still partly run on public french roads...

I would say that calling the Canadian and Australian Grands Prix "street events" is a bit of a stretch. I see the argument that part of both tracks are streets that are normally used by road cars, and if that's your definition they are street tracks. But both of them have a considerable part that's purpose built or modified with racing in mind. And more importantly they are both in parks rather than the city streets with the houses and tight barriers that you have on proper street tracks like Monaco, Singapore or Macau to name a few.

Anyway, why they may technically be street tracks depending on your definition, my vote goes to the event that I think has the most of the good qualities that define a street event (and that's Monaco) rather than my favourite event that happens to fit any definition of street event (which is the Canadian GP).

This is all very true, but Circuit GV and Albert Park are listed here as most of the people would've rioted and complained if I left those out of the poll on purpose and without a proper season. That kind of thing has actually happened on some of my previous polls, and most of the people already see me as sort of an anti-F1 person (which is not true, I just see so many better options) so you know, it's a compromise..

Preferably I'd love to drop the F1 events out of these kinds of polls altogether as they are naturally the options most people are gonna choose on 99% F1-based forum such as this, but again I point to the above reason.

Sorry for making excuses again.

I'd like to list my top events

1) Long Beach (LOVE the current race package and overall atmosphere!! now this is what you would call a proper party weekend)
2) Aus GP (honestly, this is the only F1 weekend I really look forward to every year, it feels different and the support package is great)
3) Adelaide 500
4) Gold Coast 600
5) Macau GP
6) Trois-Rivieres

I only know 3 out of those. Between Canada, Valencia and Monaco, I choose Valencia. It's beat the other two in the last two years.

I loved the original downtown street circuit in Miami. I can't say it was the best track in the world but I had a great time going there. Of course when it rained it came down in buckets.

I'd love the thought of F1 cars on the "Indy" route at Surfers Paradise. What a track that was.

Macau clearly by miles. No contention. It has absolutely everything you can ask for a street race.

You might as well put in Spa since all the good bits used to be public road. I understand where you're coming from but people who think Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is a street circuit are insane. It's a purpose-built racing circuit that as it happens you can drive on as the main road for an island. There's really nothing about it that ticks the boxes of a classic street circuit.

I´m not trying to find loopholes but to give an opinion to a thread what is the best street event. TT is raced on the streets of Isle of Man so why isn´t it a street race?

So your opinion is that this is not a street race but Canada and Australia is, ok... :stoned:

It's always difficult to create these threads as different people have different definitions for everything.

In any case there were only 20 poll options so what can you do. And the reason for AP and CGV being on the list is mentioned a couple of posts above

I still have sunburns on my forehead sitting accross pits at that track, but no, I would not call it normal street circuit (like Monaco or Singapore) at all. I had an apartment nearby, thus I know place reasonably well. But, if you strech imagination a bit, Lake Shore Blv. perhaps offsets backstreets, then maybe. :)

Australian GP every day in the week for me :) Maybe because it's the first F1 race of the year. But the races tends to be really good as well.

Gold Coast 600 is a wildcard I do enjoy as well

I'm wondering between Monaco, Macau, and Long Beach. Monaco is the most famous, in many years the only races of those that I watch. Still, I feel it's too posh. Macao is my favourite street circuit, yet I assume it's not as famous as Long Beach, Long Beach is probably more famous at least in the USA. Long Beach has less votes than Macao so I'll give it a strategic vote.

I did put down Monaco, but in reality I could live quite happily with no city races at all, as long we have as suitable replacement twenty races at the old Nordschleife, Spa, and Suzuka.

I think Macau is the best street track in the world but I couldn't say its my favorite street event in general. The racing can be pretty interesting there, but the crashes at Lisboa are so predictable and frustrating.

If we're including the Montreal GP as a street event, then I'd have to pick that. It rarely ever produces anything other than a good race.

This wasn't asking what the most famous event is, but what your favorite is.

I'm surprised that fairly mediocre races like the Adelaide 500 and Gold Coast 600 are included but Bathurst is not.

Lakeside drive/Aughtie Drive (The Melbourne GP Track) have absolutely no residential properties on them. Just sporting grounds, a golf course, a driving range (separate from the golf course) and the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Bathurst is surrounded by genuine residences.

I like Monaco, even if the race is often rubbish. Macau on the bikes is mental as well.

If you're silly enough to make a poll about a subject like this then you have to be prepared to take the abuse that comes with it.
Although your responses arent helping - Saying the the Isle of Man is not a street circuit and then comparing it to Le Mans....... :drunk:

Yeah I read those. I'm not saying AP and CGV shouldn't be there, and I understand your reasons for including them. But Bathurst is not only more of a 'real' street circuit than places like that, but it's also a much better race than Adelaide and the Gold Coast.
