In 1999, the NZCMRR's annual festival at Pukekohe featured Giacomo Agostini and a quartet of MV racers from Ubaldo Elli's stable. With a couple of school buddies who were like-minded bike race fans, we combined forces to capture the weekend for a video. It wasn't without some difficulty, and minimal support from the NZCMRR, but turned out a moderately-successful labour of love, and the chance to meet and interview Ago, and to get our mitts on an MV to fit up an on-bike camera, made it all an unforgettable weekend. Here are a few of the still pics captured by our sound man, Barry Raynel.

Ago was a few minutes late for the Assen-style group ride into the Pukekohe township on the Friday afternoon, so made the trip alone on the delectable 500/3.

Vision Productions CEO Murray Maunder captures the tuneful arrival of the MV.

The Elli machines were freshly repainted and looked factory-new.

Ago struts his stuff, while behind the 500/4 Murray, with camera, and I stress about how we're going to capture it all.

The Sunday morning on-track parade. Finally got my mitts on the delectable 500/3. If you look closely, you may detect drooling...

I fit Ago up with a bum-bag full of batteries and sound gear for some on-bike footage (FAR more compact these days !)
Ago was a great guy, lots of fun and very helpful and co-operative throughout the weekend.
In the background, Romano Colombo, who rode the 500/3 all weekend. Lucky bloke...

Hi GD66,

Now I know what you look like !!. If you know where to look I appear in one segment but I am not going to say where.

Yes , the video was excellent and i still watch my ( purchased with money ) copy every now and again.

Have you thought of a "re-release" on DVD as my tape copy won't be able to be played when the video recorder dies ??

Why do they call him twotempi?? :rotfl:

TT...You do also realise that it is perfectly legal to make a back-up copy of your VHS tape to DVD for your own personal use????

Would love to have heard the 350/6

"Twotempi" - simple - Italian ( kind of ) for two-stroke motorcycle.

I have used a Hauppage USB to transfer my tape to a DVD but you don't get a "professional" copy due to the old tape deck.

Hence a DVD copy produced from the original broadcast quality should be a lot better.

Thanks, guys. I had a word to Twinny before I posted these pics to ensure I wasn't breaching the forum rules, and his advice was to pm the info between ourselves, so let's do that. Or you could Google Murray's company up, bearing in mind that it's in NZ...

Edit : just occurred to me that Murray contributes to the Racing Comments forum, so you could pm him direct under his forum name, Muz Bee.
