It's just too easy for him. How I would love to see Hamilton in that Red Bull...
Is only because of Red Bull? Not so easy for Webber...

Was this actually a clean session? No incidents, no yellows?
Tarmac run-off areas... it would be quite something to actually hit a barrier there.

How it can be on the side of the tires ?

------------
devastating lap there at the end by Vettel... I'm sure everyone else have more pace in store, but clearly to put out that lap on FP1 is a big statement.

Think Seb went out on a fresh set of hards towards the end. Not sure though, need to confirm.

Must have been short ones. I was flipping it on and off and only saw green.

Be nice to know when drivers used their tyres.
General question, are they allowed to carry over a unused set into FP2 or was the extra set for FP1 only?

Vettel 2.5 ahead of Webber, dude's even better than I thought.
He is crazy fast ... He is sniffing the title this race itself and wants to lap Alonso when doing it !!
Seriously 1.5 s up on 2nd is crazy - even if you take out half a sec as usual suspects assign to RB8 - he is 1 sec + faster than Lew and Nando and 2.5 on Webber !

he was on a set of green tyres, 100% sure. But what does that mean? Can't be inters, did Pirelli mark the addidional set of tyres with a green flag?

It's far more likely that he just was holding back and learning the track/testing to start with but I've never seen a FP go quite like that

yes, mostly, they were very short because of the run-off areas.Must have been short ones. I was flipping it on and off and only saw green.
I was following the session with the tracking system, and each time there is a yellow, the sector flashes. It's much more easy to notice than on TV or the standard live timing. Each time a driver spun there was a yellow flag, and also with some of the offs.

I would think that the extra set of hards is only for FP1, and the teams would have to return both sets of hards at the end of FP1. For FP2, they have 1 fresh set of hards and 1 fresh set of mediums, so I don't see any reason to carry the extra set from FP1 to FP2.Be nice to know when drivers used their tyres.
General question, are they allowed to carry over a unused set into FP2 or was the extra set for FP1 only?
But of course, I could be wrong....

havent u watched formula 1 for past twenty years at all or don't u people just no anything about f1. yes Vettel may be fastest this weekend but not by 1,4 seconds. he simply had fresh tyres at the end. Hamilton had great pace with one tyreset. Lotus focused on new parts with heavier fuel load so times are closer then we think.

Call it mind games or whatever you want but I'm sure some guys are scratching their heads because that might be what the computer says is their optimal qualy pace..

I agree the gap could be down to anything really, 1.4s is just ridiculous. But still, such a huge gap is quite a rare sight even in FP1

Yup, very unusual to have such a big gap especially 2.525s gap to his teammate. But it is still FP1.It's still unusual for someone to go that fast compared to everyone else in FP1.

If the gap remains in FP3, then it is time for concerns from the other teams and Alonso, specifically.

What was he then doing for 99% of the time when he languished down in 10th and 12th?

If Ham had done all 28 laps on 1 set of hard tires it would explain the time differential

There were yellows, but only whilst people spun/left the track and rejoined.
