I remember Al and FAZA.

First car I bought was a Fiat (131) so naturally I always rooted for the 124s in F Production.

RIP, Al. And Thanks.

The thread is 3 years old. So I think we can safely say that, if this is the only link, Al is struggling but still alive.

Al was quite a "character" indeed. He advertised Faza products in a magazine that I edited and published. If and when he decided to pay his long-outstanding bills, he would send third-party checks that we had to endorse--and hope would clear. I often wondered if those checks (from his customers) ever appeared as income on his books. He seemed to be losing it a bit in his golden years. Whenever we sent him customer complaints, and there were several, he responded with unusually vitriolic letters decrying our ancestry and describing how members of certain religions had persecuted him throughout his life. Tolerating his eccentricity, we blew it off, but he never did pay his final ad bill...

I too can attest to the "character" of Al Cosentino. While in certain ways Al has contributed to the rich history of the Abarth brand, including his many racing victories, his reputation was sullied to some extent over the years by how he dealt with others. Many were short changed by Al, in more ways than one. I can recall one story of a transaction for $56 where the part was never sent. When asked about it, Al replied that he had sold it to someone else and it was too much trouble to refund the "mere" $56 dollars. As told, it took a civil court action (one that he could not ignore) to get the money back.

Still, I have a sense of admiration for Al, who if nothing was always a competitor. Rest in peace Al, you deserve it.
