He owned his mistake with Ricciardo later, but as it doesn't fit your agenda, you probably ignored that part.

Hardly. He was very vague afterwards, which sounded like he'd been told not to attack his stable mate!

I have no agenda. I want to like Seb, really, but he has so many of these tanty moments - it makes life difficult. Great driver though.

"I don't know what he did," said Vettel. "He was braking his car and I was surprised, caught out.

"Maybe I should have paid more attention but I went to the right and I wasn't very lucky that there was the DRS board, which I took head-on."

Though it makes me wonder, if you're having trouble liking drivers because of tanty moments, who do you like?

On the podium he sounded like he was about to blame him again. And "maybe" is hardly definitive. Whatever, in the race he had a tanty about it, this in indisputable. Who cares what he says when he has cooled down and has time to get into corporate robot mode?

I am a fan of many of the drivers. I like it when they express their emotions, sure. But Vettel has a habit of reacting like a petulant child in the cockpit. I think deep down you know that. :)

Find it ironic that he complains about the DRS in Austin, but it helped him quite a bit in Abu Dhabi.

I would rather ask the other way around, who cares what someone says in the heat of the moment with much tension and pressure?

I still don´t see a big difference between the drivers in such situations.
Kimi yelling at his race engineer, who just wants to give him advices/info (that somehow seem´s to be "cool", i wonder if people would think the same if "the spoilt child" would´ve done it)
Button complaining during the SC-period in Singapore after a similar looking incident like VET/RIC.
Button yelling "what is he doing" after he and Lewis collided in Canada (and Button had his fair share in the accident...)
Alonso´s "rrrridiculous, "what more do i have to do" etc.

Personally i don´t give much about it. They´re under a lot of stress. Some need to let of some steam, some don´t.

No, someone posted a link to the audio yesterday. He bitches about both the DRS making it too easy and producing a stupid overtake, and then later after pauses says "it was Karthikeyan's fault".

Basically he was frustrated at being overtaken and lashed out at several things at once.

Wow. Guy needs to get some perspective. Without DRS he'd have been lucky to score in Abu, probably collected Webber and Button at least once this season without the overtake switch to help him out, and been behind Nando in the chase as a result. Its like his KERS bitching from a coupla years back. Always something to whinge over. "I don't have Kers." Boo-hoo, "The car behind has DRS." Boo bloody hoo.

Do you hear Lewis and Nando complaining that they don't have Newey?

Oh, ooh-er....

Yep. Give all teams a couple of 2006-2010 GP2 car. Let them stick a F1 engine, and a F1 driver in. There you have some damn good racing.

Hillarious! He just lost the lead of the race, and compromised his championship, not because of his driving, but because of a silly backmarker who didn't move away earlier.... I am sure all other F1 drivers would have been elated had that happened to them

"I spoke to Charlie before the race because I knew a situation like this could come up," Karthikeyan told AUTOSPORT.

"It's impossible to get out of the way in that part of the track unless we drive off the circuit."

"Charlie said that it was absolutely fine not to move over from Turns 3 to 7 so I did not do anything wrong."

... anyone else find this funny? There's one thing I've noticed about Vettel and that's that he's all smiles and sunshine when it's all going his way, but as soon as it's not he often gets the shits very quickly.

No, not funny - Sebastian pretty much expressed how I felt in the moment - 'in the moment' being the operative phrase.

Regardless of one's perspective of Sebastian, everything he has done to this point, including venting if he felt the need to do so for release or whatever, has led to his being where he is. Since I feel that he has been very successful, I would say on the whole, he shouldn't change a thing until such time he feels he needs to do so to continue his success. Nobody can be the judge of that except Sebastian.

In the scheme of things, support and admiration does not hinge on such incidental moments. If one was sincere about it, Sebastian's overt congratulations to the eventual winner would also garner a thread, because you don't see that too often. The absence of such a thread is duly noted.

Keep it up, Sebastian!

Your basing that on the few snippets of radio messages that FOM deem us worthy of receiving.

Even then that's a little unfair to criticise. These outbursts are usually in the middle of races, heat of the moment, adrenaline pumping. SV is probably one of the more emotional on the radio. But I suspect that the people sneering at the drivers no doubt shout out worse things in their own cars in the morning rush hour traffic.

At least there could be plenty of interesting topics to discuss over the winter.

"Alonso's little tantrum when Vettel passed him in WDCs...."
"Planet F1's 100 day-meltdown...."
"Autosport Forum's little big tantrum when Vettel became 2012 WDC...."

and of course, the spring hit with Hugh Grant and Jeniffer Aniston in "one finale and three funerals"

Massively successful F1 driver has a quick whine on the radio whilst under intense pressure, adrenaline pumping and heart going at 200+ beats of minute.

Forumers whine about him whining whilst sat calmly at their keyboards days after the event.

It's funny because the OP asked about SV and to what degree he cries when something happens, some of you guys reply to that simply with a link to an alonso video and not a single word - so that's pretty funny on a number of fronts, to me anyway.

So I'll explain what the op was after (and please answer the question with an answer that's relevant to the question) is SV a whiner?.

The latin saying "in vino veritas" always springs to mind when Vettel has these outbursts. Sure he's not on the grog, but the sentiment is the same. Your true character comes out in moments of stress (or when you're pissed :)).

Two of the "cries" are of him being shoved off (Rosberg) and squeezed off the track. I expect some complaints after that, if there weren't I'd be worried.

As for the Valencia 2010 episode, well he felt it was unfair that Lewis was able to gain an advantage overtaking the safety car get penalised and losing nothing. In a season where every point was going to matter it isn't that surprising that Alonso was annoyed at it all.

I haven't ever heard Fernando say "but I wanted to win!" like a petchulant child.

Bourbon, your constant defense of Vettel, no matter what, is childish.

I get it, you support him and wish him to do well. That's fine. But to reject every criticism so vehemently and insist he 'shouldn't' change a thing is immature.

Everyone has the ability to improve, and Sebastian, while very successful to date does exhibit some major failings from time to time. If he were to rectify them, he could be an even greater racing driver. Do you not want that?

It's not rejecting criticism in itself, it's the incessant hypocrite double standar of people bitching about Vettel doing this and that, and then being completely fine when Fernando Alonso and others display that exact same behavior. At least don't be such a hypocrite.

Well. You could have omitted the last sentence and just said that most drivers "cry" from time to time. Most of the time, they have good reasons for it or at least believe to have good reasons.

Honestly, how many in here feel truly bad or annoyed by those "cries" and how many just use it to have some fun or bash some driver?

Selective memory I guess?

Im sure that Alonso in your avatar is just a coincidence and you are perfectly objective about him and Vettel. Riiiiiiight.

"Im much faster than Felipe", "Guys, this is ridiculous".

Not to mention showing the fist to Petrov after the Abu Dhabi 2010 race, who had 100% right to hold his position. But all-mighty Fernando expects people to just let him through, when he can't overtake.
He also was extremely frustrated in Bahrain 2006, when he took the lead after Schumacher pitted and one of the backmarkers was not moving off the road.

They've all been known to have a tantrum, but the difference is the tone.

Vettel, more than any other, has a sort of faux "I cannot believe he just did that, speak to Charlie, have him disqualified" sort of attitude. Its as if he simply cannot accept being overtaken or defended against, the other competitor is always in the wrong or is a cheat - over stuff that is blatantly NOT a problem. He reminds me of a footballer rolling around on the ground, feigning injury after a tackle.

I think Vettel lacks a bit of class and humility, frankly, in the car. But out of it he seems like a top chap. So he's clearly got a bit of a game face which is no bad thing I suppose.

I simply asked if there are any actual radio messages of him asking the team to inform Charlie and asking for penalties for others? An imaginary tone in his voice is not proof.
Pretty much all the drivers complain over the radio when things don't go their way. I don't understand how when Seb does it, it becomes such a big deal.

Yet Vettel is the only one where there have been ~42 topics this season about 'tantrums'.
People are saying Alonso deserves the title because Vettel just throws tantrums.
People that are Alonso fans claim that they "just can't like Vettel because of his tantrums".

How hypocritical can you be?

Yes I do find it funny, tantrums are always hilarious. It's more noticeable with Vettel simply because of the contrast, he's so bubbly when he's happy and looks and sounds so pissed off when he's in a mood.
