Get married, celebrate Christmas and drink plenty of beer to numb the pain of watching United up and down the country.

Trying to catch up on the racing action down under; winter sports (speed ski, luge, bob runs, downhill, etc); simulators; hibernation; posting expeculation...
Next thing I know it's pre-season testing again. And that's AFTER the Daytona 24.

My sporting attention switches to the Ski World Cup, November to March. Its perfect.

There is also the Autosport show in January - completely unmissable!

Yes and yes. I actually see the F1 season as a way to fill in the off season for the Ski World Cup.

Go surfing to Lanzarote on Friday, Christmas with family, skiing with friends in Austria from Christmas to New Year. A few days of paid work gigs a month and lots of (so far) unpaid work for my newly founded company. Tai Chi Chuan, guitar, and Spanish practice every day. Ski worldcup for TV sports. Hanging out with friends, of course, sometimes. Would like to read a book or two. I won't even notice that there's a few months between now and March :)
Edit: Right, and finish my chronological listening of the complete works of Howe Gelb, Giant Sand and the various side projects. That one's been going on for a while and I'm still only in 1993 :)

For me it Depends on which season were talking about!
I'm surprised there aren't more people who share the passions of f1 and Ski World Cup. There parallels are limitless.

It's been a long season, so this break is good enough. It's only about two months until the first new car of 2013 will be unveiled. Will watch out for confirmations of the last few available seats out there in the next few weeks, that's about it.

Do not care so much about Super G... but I'm eagerly counting days to Kitchbuel and Wengen downhill :)
At the same time I'm trying to decide which F1 GP to attend next year...planning/money saving - mode is on!
Also keen on educating myself more about the good old racing times, watching old races and so on
And finishing all the good books I started to read this season and continuing with my yoga-lessons and healthier life - plan.
Something like that :)

Agreed - Super G is a bit of a non-event whose sole purpose seems to be just to help downhillers compete for the overall title.

Anyway, there's plenty of great new motorsport biogs around that will also help fill in the time - Rex, Rufus and Troy for starters.

Deutschland for Christmas.

January spent searching down back of sofa for any money left from splurges of month previous.

February maybe going to Jerez again.

And then we're back to F1!

Winter, come at me bro. I will not be bored.

Try as i might i just couldn't forgive Codies for the litany of bugs in F1 2012 :| I'll make do with lots of quality family time interspersed with fits of Forza Horizon's Rally Expansion (Dec 18th), Forza 4, BF3 and Far Cry 3. I'll also dip in and out of Danny Sullivan's “Going Faster” and whatever book Simon Kernick releases next

I barely have time to watch Formula One during the season anyway being a married man with family commitments. I tend to record each race and watch it on a Sunday evening, or at times skip through it when I can. I do tend to watch the race again during the week to catch bits I may have missed too.

Not having F1 for 4 or so months will not really change my life a great deal and I will carry on as normal without getting frustrated I have to find time to actually watch a race. I love the sport and look forward to the 2013 season, but I also have a life. Christmas and the start of the New Year will be a busy time for most I would have thought.

At the risk of sounding like a heretic, by the end of the season I'm usually glad to take a rest away from F1 and obsessing about the next race. I don't enjoy old season reviews, even though I've got a pile of them, because for me the excitement of F1 is in the 'now'. I'll watch whatever racing I can find on Eurosports etc so long as it's live (or highlights of very recent events) and I'll dust off my wheel and pedals and fire up Grand Prix Legends, but other than that (and visiting this board) normal F1-free life will be back until the winter tests next year.

More time for my other sports passion which is football. Unfortunately since this year I've moved out of the parents house, I no longer have access to the pay TV channel I had at home that broadcasted all football and F1. Hence I haven't been able to keep up much in neither sport and have even missed a few races. :( Haven't watched a full FC Porto match from start to finish this season neither.

The last few races have however brought me back into F1 and motorsports after a period of some distance. I'm addicted to these forums again, and have even dusted up the wheel and started doing some racing again. Unfortunately rFactor seemingly doesn't work with my laptop, so I've been doing the same setup as that guy posted in page 1 - racing F1 2012 with a DFGT wheel. It's not a proper sim with its annoyances, but am still finding it fun. I expect that will be my motorsports fix for a while.

I also have Jo Ramirez's book to read, which I've bought over a year ago, but never got round to starting it.

It's summer in Brazil.
I'll have caipirinhas and my PS3 to keep me company.

Bastard. I miss the Summer.

You wouldn't know how much of a mission I was in to find a good caipirinha over here last Summer. For every good one, the next 5 times I'd ask for one they'd be absolutely awful.

I had a variant once made with pineapple (caipifruta?) that was fantastic but couldn't find it anywhere else. :(

I'll probably enjoy the break from F1 and it will be nice to have weekends with family and friends without thinking too much about F1. I'll continue to read Autosport and Motorsport and keep up to date with the car launches and driver/team updates but I won't post much on here and I won't read too many threads either. At the moment I'm still on a high after the weekend's race but that will soon pass and I'll look forward to the first race next year without being too obsessed by it all to the exclusion of everything else.

I'm not going to care too much about F1 during the winter, I'll probably read test reports not before March just before the season starts. And I hope we'll have a boring offseason, I want to have a break from F1. Winters like 08/09 & 09/10 with car manufacturers leaving F1 and 10/11 with Lotus name controversy kept me following F1 all winter long.

But I don't want to follow F1 too much in the winter. Instead I'll watch some interesting winter sports and tennis' Australian Open in January. Australian Open is a great Grand Slam because I don't have to compromise between watching tennis and F1.

Yeah, my heart is bleeding for all of those suffering on beaches in Summer season, or those heading for mountains to do some decent mogul skiing, while I am enduring grey skies, heavy traffic, cold drizzling rain, and no bloody F1 race in sight.

Well I'm currently sitting in Hong Kong airport to spend 7 weeks of my Australian summer in a European winter.... Flew out of 30°c (and stinking humidity) and really looking forward to snow, not working, relaxing a fair bit and Thunderdome :)

I will be spending my SUMMER ;) doing a few various things, many of them sport related.

Next week is the Australian National Figure Skating Championships, which of course I will be keeping a close eye on to make sure of all our lovely skaters! Then the week after is the ISU Grand Prix and Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (what a mouthful - everyone just calls it GPF or JGPF for short). I have no favourites in the Senior event (woe), but I have two special favourites in the Junior event, and thus will be sitting up at silly hours of the night trying to find a decent stream to watch the boys on.

(Somewhere among all that, I'll be quietly freaking out and keeping an eye on the Mark Webber Challenge. Because, you know, four wheel drive.)

There will also be copious amounts of cricket watched, and then it will be time for skating's Nationals season, wherein the "powerhouse countries" (Russia, USA, Japan, Canada) have their National Championships (Russia is first, on Christmas Day, since Orthodox Russian Christmas isn't til January 7). Again, will be keeping tabs on my two favourite Russians and my two favourite Americans.

And in between all that I'll be working and roasting in the big green shed.

And skating on an ice rink that will more closely resemble a pool :well:

It will be summer here but i'll watching football mainly and watch Arsenal throw away leads, hear Arsene Wenger's delusional comments and then watch Arsenal sell their best players, only to replace them with mediocre players. Did I mention rumours of buying a 'value' player in the January window?

I know everyone's got their own sporting passions, but for me no ball game of any kind will ever fill in for any motorsport of any kind. The only sport that works for me in the offseason is world cup skiing where we get to see people doing stuff that's insanely dangerous and massively exciting. Can't afford to go skiing this year so it'll be a sort of pleasurable torture... :well:

V8 Supercars finale this weekend
Race of Champions in two weeks
Dakar rally in five weeks
Daytona 24 Hours in two months
(+ Le Mans entry list revelation in two months, always massive)

So there's plenty of stuff

Also there's Dubai 24 soon but don't care about that

Actually, I'm trying to cut it off massively for 2013 - takes up too much time and dedication lol.

Basically my (initial) motorsport plan for next year is pretty much the following, retaining only the events I cannot possibly skip and limiting the number to 20

Daytona 24 Hours
Daytona 500
Adelaide 500
Australian Grand Prix
Sebring 12 Hours
Long Beach Grand Prix
Laguna Seca ALMS
Nurburgring 24 Hours
Indianapolis 500
Le Mans 24 Hours (obviously highlight of the year)
Lime Rock ALMS
Mosport ALMS
Road America ALMS
Baltimore ALMS
Austin ALMS
Virginia ALMS
Bathurst 1000
Petit Le Mans
Gold Coast 600
Macau Grand Prix *

* might get swapped with some other event, dunno yet

I love support races too so I watch those if events have them (like Lights @ Indy, Grand-Am with ALMS @ RA etc etc etc)
