A positive thread about drivers we dislike.

I dont dislike any driver but I dont like PM's financing and his (apparent) lack of concern for the safety of others ... but I think with a bit more expererience he may well prove to be the quickest driver on the grid over a lap.

I also dont much care for MW's "hard but fair" approach to wheel to wheel racing... but he is the driver from whom I have the most respect as a person. He is the kind of guy you show your son and say ... see him, that's how you go about being a man.

Grosjean has a proper hot girlfriend Wife ...

I've been surprised at the tone of the bb in the past week - it's the end of one of the closest and most exciting seasons in memory and yet, there seems to be an inordinate amount of bitterness and bile. Unsurprising, I suppose, given the controversies and non-controversies surrounding the final race. But let's forget about that.

2. This is still a true example of "see, that's how you go about being a human being!"

A positive thing I have to say of the only driver I really dislike:

Alonso - he seems to always be fit and take's his work seriously in his way.
No problems with overweight and hates loosing. That's professional and good for the team

Vettel - You don't win three in a row without being one of the very best in the sport. I always thought he lacked personality, but he seems to be a genuinely nice guy. I would be surprised if he didn't take his fourth straight in 2013.

Schumacher - Bruce, you and I fought the good fight against Schumacher for a long time on here. I think he's been humbled by the past couple of years, certainly for the better. He seems more relaxed, and seems well-liked in the paddock.

I cant stand Alonso for numerous reasons which I wont list here because this is a thread for positives only, so... Alonso had simply amazing year, made almost no mistakes and took probably almost everything out of the car throughout the year, cant expect more from a racing driver than that.

Hi Paste - yeah - how times have changed, eh? If I'd started this thread 10 years ago I'd have been stabbing a pen knife into my thigh as I manfully tried to find something good about MS...

But since he has rejoined the sport, I've begun to like him, he's shown that he has a sense of humour a sense of perspective and an ability to laugh at himself that seemed absent before. Or maybe I just wasn't able to perceive it...

The mantle of "senior statesman" certainly sits well on his shoulders...

Im surprised you - being the starter of this wonderful thread - say that. Whether one likes him or not (As an out and out Hill fan, I started as someone who disliked him) his talent was obvious to everyone. Whatever people say about his 6 other titles, his title in 2000 was one of the best, if not best, title challenge that I have witnessed in my 19 years of being an f1 fan.

I don't know if this is against some vague rule hidden deep in the annals of the Autosport Forum basement, but in the interests of bringing some positivity I'd like to wake this thread up to add a few good words:

Lewis Hamilton: Masterful wet weather driver. Tangentially, his father is one of the classiest, most gentlemanly people that's graced the paddock in a long time.

Sebastian Vettel: Cracking sense of humour.

Chip in if you feel so inclined.

Lance Stroll: He's no Nicholas Latifi.

Dislike side: Alonso is the most annoying driver in modern F1 history. A whiny petulant man-child.

Positive side: He is tremendously gifted in both speed and racing ability and has been impressively able to sustain his performance in spite of getting older and being in depressing team situations. Having him in a top team would be a very good thing.

Lando Norris is not the complete waste of a seat I thought he would be.

Then again he is only my second least favorite driver. Not going to mention the number one, I never ever mentioned his name here, because eveything I would feel like writing about him would bring me a well deserved lifetime forum ban

Esteban Ocon: he is friends with Mick Schumacher and is doing better than expected. He won in Hungary.

I’m very happy that Vettel’s name is Sebastian and that his favourite color is blue :-)

And even happier that he is retiring.

Fernando Alonso.

A post in this thread from a decade ago described him as a "petulant man-child" and I would agree, which is why I don't warm to him.

BUT he is a fantastic driver, has consistently been so from the moment he stepped into a Minardi (and probably before, I just hadn't seen him on my radar) and enriches F1 by still being there over twenty years later. I want him to win another grand prix, because he damned well deserves it. 

Would I have a pint with him? Gods, no. Would I hire him to drive? In a flash. 

Daniel Ricciardo has a nice smile.
