I knew my as-neutral-as-possible world divisions would somehow offend someone, but had no idea where would the complaints come from! Rather unsurprisiginly they come from pretty much most of the globe, it's a forum-wide sport to complain about poll options. 
That's a good point actually, but with the poll saying only 1.5% of the board are from that region, it'd have been statistically irrelevant to further divide that into 2 regions.
When doing the divide of Europe into subregions, I was imagining the likes of Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic would vote for Eastern Europe (I was thinking Eastern Europe = the former Soviet-influenced Eastern Bloc), but it's no big deal and I should've made it clearer from the start.
Doesn't the Eastern Europe option directly states it includes Russia? That means the whole of Russia even if you live in very Asian Siberia, or with a short boat trip to US territory.
I did imagine if there's any folks from Georgia, Tajikistan etc there'd be confusion as they don't directly fit any option, but there's too many options already.

There isn't going to be enough people from New Zealand and the Oceanic microstates to justify statistically separating them from Australia.

Had a difficult call whether to include myself in Central or Eastern Europe but in the end Poland is closer to Germany than Russia (well, at least on the map). So yeah, I'm from Poland, 20-something, male (despite what my nickname may suggest).

Turkey is not in the Middle East per se. Though you could say it is in the Middle East in terms of religion. Geographically you could say it is in the Asia in terms of surface area. Politically you could say it is in the Europe due to its candidate status for membership of the European Union.

* I'm actually surprised UK & Ireland make for only 30% of the board, thought there'd be at least 10% more, this is quite an international board then. Still a tad UK-biased as UK certainly don't make for a whole 30% of the global F1 fanbase, but given these forums are attached to the Autosport magazine, use English language and there's huge UK involvement in F1 anyway with over half of the teams based there, it's only to be expected.
* The Germany/Netherlands and US/Canada regions coming next aren't surprising neither, Germans have won 10 of the last 20 drivers championships so the fanbase there is massive and very active, whereas US and Canada benefit from simply speaking English natively. I was surprised to read the board started in the US actually, I wasn't aware of that and probably makes a difference. Nevertheless it's striking how much of a fanbase is there, when F1 is usually considered to be so unpopular there, at least compared to other sports. Local Austin attendance figures showed this nicely too.
* Relatively large portions of fans from Nordic Europe and Latin Europe are unsurprising too. There's a long tradition of Finnish champions with Rosberg, Hakkinen and Raikkonen attracting a steady fanbase over the past 3 decades. Whereas Italy (Ferrari), France (Renault, Prost and countless other drivers) and Spain (Alonso) have huge fanbases, the Spanish a bit more recent, with the Italians and French having been here since the beginning of F1. I suspect there'd a be a ton more people from this region if it weren't for the language issue, as we in the South tend to be far less comfortable with English than people from the Northern European nations.
* The language issue becomes even more obvious when looking at South and Centre America, there are huge fanbases there the biggest of which in Brazil, but tend to be mostly disconnected from the English part of the web. Sum both regions and you get only 4%, it's clearly a under-represented part of the world in this board.
* The Balkans will speak English more readily than the Brazilians, Argentinians or Mexicans but it's still striking they make up a very similar 4%, there's an odd long history of Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Greek people in this board when there's never been a driver from those areas. Impressive.
* Even more impressive is a collective 6.4% for Eastern Europe, even if I have considered Eastern Europe as a very large region including Russia. However there's only been 2 significant drivers from there, Petrov and Kubica, and some of the (many) Polish have been voting Central Europe instead. These are some fantastic numbers for this region.
* Australia, New Zealand and South Africa bring considerable fanbases of 4.6% in Oceania and 2.4% in Southern Africa, again they speak English and have an history of F1 drivers and racing venues so it's not a shock. However again it puts the Balkans and the Eastern Europe big numbers into perspective.
* In Asia I am actually astonished, it's been the biggest surprise so far to me. This because there's a considerable amount of people from India yet almost nobody from the China/Japan/Korea area!! When at least the Japanese are known to be big F1 fans. I suspect the issue again is language and alphabet, that area of the world doesn't cross over easily to the English part of the web. But may also indicate there's perhaps a lack of fanbase there (China and Korea). India's numbers are surprising and encouraging but I do wonder if many aren't just people that moved out of India to western countries and then developed a F1 interest. Southeast Asia numbers are a little disappointing given there's currently 2 races there. Middle East even more so given there's 3 races and the (vocal) Turkish are included.
* North and Central Africa are as irrelevant as expected, sadly. F1 ranks very low in the interests of this poor part of the world.

Oh I'm very aware you can be a fan without having a driver from your nation, after all I'm Portuguese and the only time we ever had a guy on the podium the race was a farce (Indy 05). However drivers certainly help establishing fanbases, look up how much bigger F1 became in Spain and Poland over the last decade!

I don't see this poll really represent the correct number of F1 fans from certain region of the world. There is a number of F1/motorsport related forum other than AutosportBB for F1 fans to follow. Non-english speaking country usually has their own F1 fans forum.As for a comment on the actual results so far:

Oh dear. NO!
He's a Ferrari/Schumacher acolyte. I have tried to show him the errors of his ways, but he is VERY thick sculled.
On todays grid I'd like Kobayashi and LewHam to do well. Team wise McLaren. Before those two, it was Quick Nick and even before him, DHill, Prost and Lauda.
