Have you got a news source for this? Not disputing your claim but would like to read up on it, would be great news for F1 to return there and secure another European venue.
My source is a link to the website of the national TV-broadcaster in Austria ORF!

Replacing the German GP or what?
Hockenheim isn't in trouble compared to NBR, it would be tragic if it did.... since F1 go more german drivers than Austrian drivers, and there are some very dedicated F1 fans in germany

Red Bull says that its circuit will host an Austrian GP on July 6 2014. Question now is how that fits in with GB and D.

It doesn't have to replace anything, there was a space for a GP this past week-end, it was even on the provisional calendar as TBA.
Edit: Seems this might have been the New Jersey slot
So what happens to New Jersey, Is that still scheduled in for next year. That will make it 21 races. This might have repercussions in terms of cost cutting and all. By the way I hear engine allocation is to be further reduced next year, was the engine allocation based on a 20 race calendar or 21 race calendar ?
Edit : Not to mention Sochi (Russia) that will make it a potential 22 race calendar. They have to increase the engine allocations from what they're proposing

I loved this circuit, and why are people concerned about the short laptime? Its beauty is in its simplicity; the fans there see the cars more, and with the gradient and scenery its one circuit I've truly missed in the last decade.

With that news I start to realize, how many people here in Austria are motorsport-enthusiasts and how many think of me, when they hear something about F1...
I start to create a plan organizing a group-travel to Spielberg with camping and so on...
will that group travel include people from germany... like Saxony? :o

Since there is no Japanese presence in F1 at the moment (no sponsors, drivers, manufacturers) and Honda only coming back in 2015 I fear we will have no Japanese GP next year, it may return when Honda returns, Honda owns the Suzuka track after all (Toyota owns Fuji).

Korea seems likely. And Germany?
They're two tracks that have produced some good races in the past few years.

So what's going to get the shove? There are 19 races this season, and we're adding New Jersey, Russia, and Austria, so 2 have to go.

Hockenheim is standing alot better than Nürburgring... so it would be weird if they keep NBR but drop Hockenheim... and... I doubt it will be dropped... like I said its ticketshop says 18.07 - 20.07 as the HH GP date

That said, I'll believe New Jersey when the cars are actually lining up on the grid.
If Korea (which surely must be on its last legs) and Japan (an apparently diminishing market) both end up being dropped then that has some major ramifications for the organisation of the tail-end of the calendar, no?
PS did that Westschleife extension ever end up being built, or is the circuit layout currently "as it was" in 2003?

Things such as engine allocations and gearboxes could come in to it especially since the amount of races they can be used for will have to be lenghtened, now add to that 2 extra races and it won't be long before you get teams moaning and another ****gate is the topic of discussionMaybe the spanish GP will be dropped? Or maybe non GP at all? Why do you think one will be dropped, what speaks against having 22 races 2014, if everybody keeps complaining this year about the long breaks between races?

Montjuich was quite popular back in the day.

It would be a foolish thing from Honda not to renew the contract just before coming back to the F1 IMO.@ Bart: read my post # 83: Japan (Suzuka) will most probably be dropped, it doesn't have a contract for next year.

"I really love the F1 tracks in Spain" said no one ever.
I wouldn't be opposed to Catalunya losing the GP.
It's a track I like on paper, but every race I watch there whether F1 or another series is just dull. The only real exciting moment I personally recall was Senna and Mansell going wheel-to-wheel at 190MPH in 1991. Well...and maybe Hakkinen's mechanical failure on the last lap in 2001?

I doubt Suzuka will go off the calendar...or at the very least, I could see it only going off for 1 year. Either way it should be on the calendar for the 2015 season.
