With regard to SPA, how is the camping? For example at Road America they have family areas and party areas. Is it condusive to camp at the track with a 7 year old?
Also - for GA & Camping does anyone have an approximate on costs?
Thanks kindly

I am considering a trip to SPA next year with my 7 year old daughter. We plan on then spending a week with family in Holland.

GA tix were € 130 for the weekend. There is camping, not sure about family areas. I've been twice and just stayed in Brussels and drove back and forth.

It would be fine for a family. There was a bar area where there was some noise but it wasn't late and it wasn't loud. The campsite was very pleasant otherwise, shuttle buses to the circuit, very convenient. Stories I heard from people who camped at the circuit is of all night euro disco music being pumped from huge speakers everywhere and no sleep being had.

Also my advice is don't book GA tickets or parking, its cheaper to buy the GA passes at the track on Friday and pay each day to park. Use the money you save on a Kangaroo TV!

thats where we camped and was good enough for us so i assume it would be just as good for you and your daughter - can walk to the track and you would come in at stavelot corner

Hopfully we may have a few Atlas members her going to make it easier.
We would only go for race day - I need to spend $ on Holland and Paris (for the little one).

Liege is a bit far, there is always Verviers which is much closer.

Great if you love Avicii playing until 3am, fireworks being set off next to your tent and people create giant forest full of tents and trees. Hmm. That said, everyone was really friendly and we were camping very close to the circuit though (about 5 min walk from tent to where we sat at the circuit!!)
As for booking tickets, make sure you buy them through the official site:
http://www.facebook....368758619818632 - they have a competition at the moment to win free tickets
http://www.spagrandprix.com/
They do discounts on tickets if you book them in advance - think the current discount is 5% or something similar so don't buy your tickets too late. Last year I think I did the whole trip for under £300 for 2 people including camping and GA.
Last year i thought I was buying my GP tickets through the official sites. Turns out it was just a reseller - which went bust before I even got my tickets :/ I have booked my tickets for Spa always through the official website and they have always been really good at sending out tickets on time. GA is fantastic, make sure you wake up fairly early on race day to get a good view. Thursday (I think around 4pm?) they allow access to the circuit from the 1st corner to allow you to meet the drivers and see the cars!! (we saw Micheal Schumacher, Lewis, Jenson, Alonso, got autographs from Massa) - really awesome experience! Well worth attending!
Finally make sure you take waterproofs and wellies! Last year we got absolutely soaked on the Friday. Really bad weather expected - although Sunday was lovely and dry!!!

We also had stayed at the so called "Elephant" camp. (~ approx cost 120e for 3 people staying 2 days, including shuttle to the circuit, use of facilities and spot for 1 car).
It is a good place to stay (facilities clean, electricity, hot water, etc.) considering the fact that it was raining almost all the time during the 2011 weekend.
Maybe once or twice there were some British fans singing the anthem little loud but nothing to fear.
This campsite is 20 min walk away from the main entrance of the GP track.
If I was you I will be going to a campsite with a 7 year old, only if I already have some experience (for example fishing or some other tent activity together with your child).
Absolute must is to go prepared with lots of food, drinks and dry clothes, because there is nothing but 3 small villages in that area and moving around with a car is
not an easy thing to do.
There was a good place very close to the camp, some kind of a small hut with a dining room.
We used to eat hot meals there and have drinks (we did not come much prepared).
I bet they offer rooms for staying (kind of bed and breakfast place).
Here are the GPS coordinates 50.4606,5.9725 or
Rue Mathieu Nisen
4970 Stavelot, Belgium 17 m NW
It is on the opposite side of the church.
