Well, in any universe of 20 men, there's a high chance that one of them is gay. Although, all things considered, maybe the usually homophobic environment of racing cars pushes away gay drivers or make them stay hidden. I wonder, in this case, if someone would come out and say that is gay, how much (or if) that would affect their carreers and sponsorship.

This probably is a bad place to out drivers who are not openly gay.

I read somewhere about 5 years ago that Alguersuari is openly gay.  The Spanish groupies were crushed.

There have been rumours down the years, but I don't think there's been an *openly* gay F1 driver. Buettler was the closest thing. There have been a handful of openly gay drivers in junior formulae. There have also been jokes made such as Piquet jokingly saying Senna was gay....which would likely be seen as unpleasant by the LGBT+ community (or GSRD as I prefer to use these days).

Motor racing is quite a hetero-normative world.....the whole "men are real men" thing. It's entirely possible that there have been gay or bi male drivers...after all who knew actors like Rock Hudson or Raymond Burr were gay? Due to their rather macho images. I hope that a driver coming out has no effect on their fan base or sponsorship.
