I think i'll try Sport1 for a month or so, and if i don't like it, i can always cancel my subscription ... I'm not a big fan of Olav Mol (i don't like his conspiracy theories) so it has to be good for me to stay on. I saw Sport1 has 2 HD-channels, and 4 regular channels, can anyone tel me if the races will be broadcasted in HD? If not, i'll certainly won't even try it.
Thanks, Jeroen
'Naast de race zijn ook alle vrije- en kwalificatietrainingen live en in HD te volgen.'
Yes they will. I completely switched away from RTL when the BBC got the liscense to be honest. I can't stand Olav Mol either. Not sure yet on what I will do.

Will sport 1 be offering an on demand service or is it subscription only?
It's not set in stone yet but I think they'll offer an on demand service.

So I wondered...
With Van Der Garde in the "nog onder onderaan" (Courtesy: Andre van Duin) section of F1, maybe a change in live broadcasts coming up?
Otherwise I'm affraid that his Dutch sponsors really should have thrown in the euros last year instead of this year....

They will, and the cost would be 2,50 per race if I remember correctly. But Race, Qualifying, Practice etc. all have to be ordered seperately (2,50 each). So if you want to watch qualy and the race the total price won't differ too much from a year's subscription. Will sport 1 be offering an on demand service or is it subscription only?

F1 changed a little bit "for the better" for Dutch TV stations

Well Sport 1 signed a deal for 3 years so don't expect any change until the 2016 season!

... how many Euros do you dare to bet on vdG still being in F1 by that time?
Or maybe Freijns' presence in F1 makes a change in plans necessary by that time....

Giedo, no.
Robin, definitely.
That is, if Robin learns to keep his big mouth shut ... if not, he won't make it either ...

Yes there is ;) In Dutch:
How about the presentation personalities? I mean if man pays, most men expect to receive worthy information. Sky does it and does spend money on inviting guys like martin and Damon. BBC certainly spend money as well. But Dutch in most cases are extremely stingy and pay not even a cent for those true speakers. Have this feeling that for Dutch guys formula one in Dutch language is all but finished...

Such a relief. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone who doesn't wear aluminum foil hat on his head every single race. And Olav Mol is still not under contract :/

In all seriousness though, who would they have to pay then? Jos Verstappen, Robert Doornbos, Christijan Albers, Jan Lammers? And those are the people who actually drove an F1 car...
A few years ago the rights were in the hands of SBS, and they made a complete mockery of their viewers with their so called 'presentation personalities', although one can't ask too much intelligence from SBS...

What we do know is that every practice session will be broadcast live and there will be a channel for alternative camera views, ride onboard with your favourite driver etc. Similar to the red button which the BBC used to have.

I used to watch the races on Canal+ with him and Jan, was actually not a bad duo at the time. I think later Tim or Tom (hihi) Coronel took over with Ronald which also wasn't bad at all.Yes, it is Ronald van Dam. Former editor in chief of a Dutch F1 magazine. He was also the commentator of F1 when it was on Canal+. His sidekick was former F1 driver and Le Mans-winner Jan (Jantje) Lammers.
I guess I'll wait untill the announcements have been made on what to do this year.

Furthermore, Olav Mol will be on location to preview each F1 race and possibly be a pit commentator like Ted Kravitz and Lee McKenzie for our English broadcasters.
Every race will be broadcasted in HD, though have to say, Sport1 only has one HD channel, so will have to wait and see if it doesn't clash with big football matches.
In some races viewers will be able to switch camera's to their liking. Also, using your tablet you can get additional features like a driver tracker.

We've got more news on Sport1's F1 broadcasting. Ronald van Dam will commentate and be assisted by Christijan Albers, Jos Verstappen and Robert Doornbos this season. Depending on who's available one of these three will co commentate. Very good in my opinion, because one commentator isn't enough anymore to really see everything.

Yup, they're really going into Sky direction. Personally I'm happy Olav Mol will still be committed to F1 live coverage. I guess he'll be really happy that he will be on location for every GP, hopefully he'll see some familiar faces I might take Sport1, although only for 3 months as the first 3 months cost just €5,- p/month. I don't think I'm willing to pay €15,- p/month when you have BBC sometimes and there are always streams on the internet ofcourse ;)

I guess I'll try the German RTL a few times and have preferred BBC's broadcasts over RTL anyway, so I'll watch half of the races there.
I will give Sport1's pay-per-view model a try, though, although I'm not sure whether that will be in HD, which would be a big plus.

Olav Mol wasn't perfect and made more than few (silly) mistakes during a race, but compared to this he was sublime! If they don't improve their knowledge of the sport and on reporting in general, I will cancel my subscription. An internet stream from Sky is way better, taking the less than stellar image quality for granted, and some of the races will be broadcasted by BBC.
Also, they don't dare to say a bad thing about Giedo. "Giedo finished a more than respectable 18th in his first race". For crying out loud, he was simply dead last!

In qualifying it was horrible, but I felt in the race, he actually stopped talking for most of the radio messages.
That said, I didn't quite feel it yet, but I'm willing to give them a few races. Got 3 months on discount anyway

Yeah, but you have to cancel within 2 monthsI like to think my Tweet after qualifying helped a little with the team radio.

Yeah, especially when Alonso was pitted first and Doornbos mentioned that team orders were banned since the Barichello-Schumacher incidentIt's too bad Sport1 doesn't offer a second audio channel in English, like they sometimes do with football matches on the extra channels. It would be great if they could have Sky's commentators as a second audio channel to choose frome.
