I have been moved close to tears scrolling through your wonderful pictures, which along with the detailed comments provide a fitting tribute to our friends and heroes who are sadly no longer with us.

St Joris indeed. I don't think Boy was the only competitor to die that day. As I recall there were quite a few accidents and it was the last meeting ever held on what was an extremely dangerous venue. Don't know why, but all the Belgium tracks at the time were lethal.

Your right Pep, Dutch sidecar pairing Jos Stet & Andre Schilder were killed in practice, apparently it was very wet & did not dry out till late evening when a minutes silence was held for Jos & Andre, then the sidecar race started & Boy never made it round the first lap, Geral De Haas was his passenger & survived almost unscathed & he became passenger for Eggy Streuer
winning the 1989 World sidecar Championship together..........such is life.

Ray Swann @ Brands Hatch 1986, Ray died in car accident (he was the passenger) near Dunstable in October 1990 age 29.

Max Wiener (Austria) @ Silverstone 1978, Max is another to die in a road accident, this time a collision with a tractor in his home town of Bad Ischl on 7th January 1996, he was 49.

Michel Rougerie (France) Silverstone 1977, Michel was killed @ Rijeka Yugoslavia May 31st 1981, on the 2nd lap of the 350cc GP, Michel fell & was hit by French rider Roger Sibille who could not avoid him, I believe Roger was his team mate?

Les Burgan @ Snetterton 1975, Les crashed @ The Bombhole Snetterton at a meeting in 1988 & passed away 4th April 1989.

Michel Frutschi (Switzerland) Silverstone 1978, Michel was killed in the 500cc French GP at Le Mans when he crashed & hit a catch fence pole, 3rd April 1983.

Kevin Clementson @ Brands Hatch 1980, Kevin was Winner of the first ever Yamaha LC Pro-Am race, but was killed a few days later crashing at Devils Elbow and was hit by following riders at a support race during the Mallory Park Trans Atlantic Trophy meeting, 19th April 1981.

Kenny Irons @ Brands Hatch 1982, Kenny was killed after crashing on the warm up lap of the MCN Superstock race when he was hit in the back at some speed by a riderless bike that had crashed in the same incident, Cadwell Park 26th June 1988, age 27.

Gilberto Parlotti (Italy) Gilberto was killed at the Isle of Man TT during the 125 race, crashing at the Verandah section on the mountain, June 9th 1972, age 31.

John Hartle on the Cowles Matchless on which he finished third in the 1967 500cc World Championship. John was tragically killed at Scarborough in 1968 after colliding with another machine.
(Perhaps someone else can add a photo of John in his heyday on MV's?).

I agree, I don't find it morbid to remember those who lost their lives pursuing the sport they loved, quite the reverse, I think most, if not all of those who have left us would be pleased to know that they were not forgotten.

John Robert (Jock) Taylor here with James Neil @ Silverstone 1977, Jock was killed in the sidecar GP race at Imatra Finland, when he crashed into a telegraph pole & then was hit by another outfit as that too slid off the circuit in treacherously wet conditions, August 15th 1982, age 28.
