Every year I hope to see less Vodafone and more McLaren on the apparel but again it appears that I will be disappointed.Nice catch! Maybe it will be, but it almost unnoticeable, they could do something easier to spot.

One of the most exciting things about next season for me is seeing how he will get on in the macca.
Jeez, Mclaren would have to have the most naff team kit of the pit lane though. Those hats are terrible.

Obviously, that it's because he's replacing Hamilton.Damn everyone is bashing Perez lol. I'd say 80% of the posters think he's gonna fail.
Sour grapes from too many posters, mostly Hamilton fans, who really want him to fail.

Well I am one LH fan who does not expect him to fail... If the car is as good compared to the rest as it was last year I expect at least 3 wins and maybe 6 more podiums from him.... There is no reason not to expect him to do well. He showed in the first part of last season that he has the temperment and the talent to run at the front.
Only question is his qualifying ... and whether it was him that was easy on tyres or the Sauber.

I think it was more Sauber thing. He mentioned they were more focusing on race pace then top teams who should think more of better quali.Only question is his qualifying ... and whether it was him that was easy on tyres or the Sauber.

I'm a Hamilton fan, and I don't want him to fail. I have some questions over some parts of his racing, but he seems like a good guy and a fast racer. Theres room for any number of racers, and competition is always good (although I hope Hamilton gets success at merc as well).

Yes but what does finishing nowhere (outside top-10) benefit? Perez may be in for a rough year, unless he starts performing more consistently and stops colliding. It's McLaren and three or four podiums will not be enough.
To finish first you must first finish.

I'm curious what femi means too. Is it Whitmarsh's tie?
Lol, not the tie. The boy standing up to shake the hands of sitting Master MW.

That's the point. I'd still hire him over Perez. He has some serious speed.
And Perez doesn't? Do you really think this decision is based on one or two races?

When Kovalainen joined McLaren, anyone remember how they felt? I feel the same about Sergio. Heikki didn't do as well as I think many thought he would. I hope Sergio makes it.
For many he performed about as well as we expected. He was never first choice, or even second. Mac gave him 2 seasons to prove himself and he failed. I think Perez is better, it's for him to prove it, not to us, but the team.

You can't keep blaming Hamilton fans for every evil under the sun you know!
there will be many factions expressing doubts
his driving towards end of year didn't help
his teammate's supporters will want him to win that battle
but for all the others all you have to do is give the doubters a bit of time to acclimatise to change.
I personally thinks he will be fine for the simple reason that McLaren operate equality policy that will ensure he gets the support he needs to do well and crucially he is showing a good mental outlook (at the moment)

There are lots of threads for discussing various aspects of Perez and McLaren's hiring of him. This thread is to discuss the first images and what it tells us.
It tells us McLaren really don't like untucked shirts.

He's provided reason for skepticism and not every driver succeeds when they step up. There have been many examples of drivers who looked promising and didn't do as well as expected. Not expecting much from him only lowers the pressure and makes anything he does achieve look more impressive. Maybe some people don't have your eye for talent. Maybe some people have a better eye for talent.
As a Hamilton fan myself I certainly don't wish him to fail because he seems like a nice guy. It's difficult to dislike him, having said that I've never been particularly impressed with him. I think he's talented and promising but he never stood out to me over other prospects. I don't expect him to fail at McLaren, I expect him to be solid. I don't expect him to be the new Hamilton or Vettel but I don't expect him to be another Heikki either.
As for the pictures, I think he suits McLaren gear and he's come across well in the interviews so far too. Perez and McLaren could be a good fit as long as he performs on track.

Im really excited at the prospect of watching Perez this season, nothing better than watching someone get their first few wins obviously if the 28 is up to the task.
I used to enjoy Vettel winning believe it or not.
It's exciting to see any new driver come up and challenge the top. Wether it be Vettel, Perez, Hamilton or whoever. I'm not sure so many people like dominance by one driver/team.
