Hi folks

I have had a lady get in touch with me who is after information on her father who used to race.

She knows very little except that his name was Alan Knight, he was from Urmston and the car was prepared by a garage called Molyneux and West.

I said I would put a call out to see if anyone can help?

When did he race?

I seem to recall that Cyd Williams used to race a Lotus Cortina prepared by Molyneux, West and Co. early in his career (late 1960s) so a call to Cyd may yield some info.

There are references to Molyneux and West of Urmston in Commercial Motor - in 1951/52 they were building BSA-powered fork lifts.

Useless info for you my Grandad (deceased) owned a garage in the middle of Urmston 1940's up to 1970's Molyneux & West, he had one of the first recovery trucks with RECOVERY in reverse so it could be read in rear view mirrors. I will ask my uncle if he still has the pics.

There's also this 30/98 Vauxhall. Probably too much to hope that it belonged to Mr Knight, but stranger things have happened!

I wonder if the West in Molyneux and West could have been Peter West who founded Westune in Bolton?
