You may have noticed Haynes publishing famous for 45 years in producing step by step instruction car manuals which no doubt most will have or have used have recently tackled so unusual subjects. I knew the author was working on this but I heard today it is on sale .

It is a Workshop Manual - for retirement !

But written by none other than Stuart Turner , RAC Rally winning co-driver in the Saab with Erik Carlsson, former competitions manager at BMC in the 1960s with all the Mini wins and a similar position at Ford Motor Company in the 70s and 80s as well as in charge of corporate affairs and head of Ford Advanced Vehicles plant in Essex.

Stuart of course no stranger to writing either with more than 20 previous books to his name including his best selling autobiography "Twice Lucky"
Also one of the wittiest after dinner speakers you will ever hear.
We were privileged to have him as guest speaker at the TNF Herts show in 2011 which was 90 mins of joy and laughter.

Haynes have done manuals for the wartime Spitfire, the Lotus 72 grand Prix car a recent Red Bull and much else not normally associated with a workshop manual format

Stuart has taken it very seriously he tells me he has never done so much research for any book and is blessed with a fully qualified Geriatrician daughter.
But those of you who have witnessed Stuart in action with know this is certain to be a great read full of wit and humour and with illustrations by TNFs own genius cartoonist Rod Waller, sounds interesting.
Any other unusual subjects for books tackled by motor sport figures ?

Turner himself has also written books on public speaking and the renovation of old cottages. In addotion to a number of books on golf Louis Stanley's output also included books about Staffordshire pottery, the old inns of London and 'The Beauty of Woman' (!)

Slightly off topic I got my Dad a Haynes manual for the Tornado steam locomotive this Christmas just gone :smoking:

Back on topic an ex Coventy City goal keeper called David Icke wrote many books on conspiracy theories, I believe he became quite a figure of fun after appearing on the Wogan show :drunk:

Back on topic an ex Coventy City goal keeper called David Icke wrote many books on conspiracy theories, I believe he became quite a figure of fun after appearing on the Wogan show
