2. Todt won't allow them to race, the FIA seems to live in a state of "gaga", totally oblivious to what the general financial situation in motorsport looks like.
3 They won't race in 2014, because they would need a new car.
To sum up, a non-story.

Their best bet would be to spend this year building the team and a new car for 2014, hopefully becoming relatively financially stable, though I'll still be expecting pay drivers.

In addition to that can someone give a list of the essential assets that every respectable formula 1 team should have to not look like a joke ?
Example:
Windtunnel access
Computing and CFD capabilities
Manufacturing space and equipment which includes:
Prototyping, carbon laying and finishing capabilities and tooling
and the list goes on ... not to mention the race equipment and tooling
then the staff to get this running.
Did HRT have the essentials or is the only thing left are the Chassis ? (modified Dallaras ?)
What is the Scorpion outfit buying ? The only thing of worth from what I have been reading is the FIA entry ( And even that is debatable).

If this isn't all just a storm in the tea cup sitting on Jonathan Noble's desk then Scorpion Racing will have to change its name. We can forget about any F1 team named Scorpion Racing because of Pirelli's involvement. Click on the link below and click on the tab on the left marked 'why the name change?'I think they should be allowed to race purely on the basis of their name, also, imagine the livery possibilities! All of which are more important than having a budget in place, actually getting an entry at all, a long term plan and lack of facilities.

Why can't they start builiding a car now, and compete in 2014?3 They won't race in 2014, because they would need a new car.
F1 needs North American drivers. Wickens and/or Rossi would be ideal.

That's your opinion. They're North Americas best open wheel drivers in Europe. Both Wickens and Rossi aren't that good that it would be a "ideal" line-up...

why wont they race in 2014 ? it is a real possibility , but the team name it looks like a username i could use in forums .

They don't have a car. Even if they buy an F112 (is that thing seriously still worth money?) It would be a nightmare trying to cut up the insides to get a V6 and ERS installed. Unless these guys really are mega-bucks, trying to attract funding to build a team and car (lets be honest, HRT had some mechanics and that was about it) is going to be impossible. And no North American drivers could possibly get into F1-backmarker-paydrive sponsor territory.

Every other country has had drivers at the back of the grid. Why not North Americans? I case you haven't heard, both the U.S. and Canada have GP races.

It was meant more as reference to American business interest in f1, and by extension personal sponsorship, than anything driver-aimed. There isn't very much at all. If Wickens cant fund a lower formulae drive he wont be able to put an f1 package together. Though perhaps the succsess of the USGP will help in matters. If Rossi has a good year in GP2 I can see him getting a seat though.[i]

I was aware of the Canadian and USGP's. I really like how the Ferrari's look in Watkins Glen.

It's pretty simple, apart from Ferrari, RBR, McLaren and Merc every team is pretty low on cash. Why can't they start builiding a car now, and compete in 2014?
F1 needs North American drivers. Wickens and/or Rossi would be ideal.
Who in their right mind would buy a team with next to none existent assets?
Anyway, 2014 will certainly be interesting for the circus.

I’m from the USA and I would love to see a North American team in F1. But’s it’s going to have to be somebody with the resources and experience of a Penske or Ganassi and sponsors like Coca Cola, Apple, Microsoft to pull that off. You can’t be successful as a private team in F1 with no preparation time on a shoestring budget.

Bernie's hypocrisy is easy to understand. He wants desperately to crack the US market. So much so that even a sniff of US money gives him wood. This is such a weird story… After Bernie spent the second half of 2012 telling anyone who would listen (potential sponsors included) that Marrusia and HRT didn’t deserve a place in F1, now he’s completely onboard with some unnamed North American investors buying the assets of HRT and trying to make Australia in 6 weeks. That’s crazy.

I doubt they even have the funds to compete in lower formulas much less F1. Sounds like another couple dreamers who want to get their name out there for attention. And they'll get it because there's nothing else to talk about in F1 atm and journalists love to copy + paste easy articles.
and yea they already had to change their name to "Emperor Racing" because Pirelli sued them, they are basically a niche manufacturing company. I doubt they can even afford a 1day test much less a full season with car and mechanics.
look at this garbage website:
http://emperorracing.com/
that logo made in Ms Paint and they couldnt even cut out all the white in the background to make it transparent

There won't be an F1 project called Scorpion. It is impossible because Pirelli would sue. That is the point in looking at that website. It doesn't matter if they are the same people / company.Who says that the Scorpion F1 project is from the same people / company as that website?

You would have to ask Pirelli that.Does Pirelli have exclusive usage to the name Scorpion in motor racing? Or just tire manufacturing?

I'm saying that you would have to ask Pirelli about the extent of its coverage but we know that it is already sufficient to prevent another motorsport company using the Scorpion name in a much more junior capacity to an F1 team. That's all we need to know to say that there won't be a Scorpion team in F1. Whether that prevents Scorpion brands in tire manufacturing, tool shops or gas filling stations is a question for Pirelli. So you're saying you don't know.

So far that's only Canada. It certainly didn't stop the Scorpion road car. So the odds it would apply in motor racing are even lower. But maybe if you say it enough it will come true?

Gimme a break. This is a storm in a tea cup. There will be no Scorpion F1 team for a number of reasons and the problem with the name is one of them. End of story.

The evidence points in the other direction and that is important because it shows how tenuous this is. It is no more serious than reporting that someone is planning to resurrect Arrows.I don't think it will happen either, but the name isn't the problem. And I don't think would become a problem.
