From what Hulkenber has said, the car will be very competitive in specific tracks like Barcelona, Suzuka and Silverstone. And it looks like it'll be crap again on tracks like Hungary, Singapore and Korea.

Hulk shouldn't move, stay Force India...
C31 was pretty better but C32 is not. On the other hand VJM05 is very competitive and enough to challenge top teams.
And I've never seen the car not starting by mechanical trouble since America 2005.
How many points did Kobayashi lose because of the easy mistakes or poor strategies of this team and does Hulk this year?

Gutiérrez was uninspiring this weekend (although he deserves credit for finishing at least), but it was an extremely difficult situation in which to make an F1 début, so we should reserve judgement until he drives at a circuit on which he has previous experience, or has a weekend which isn't compromised by mixed weather conditions.
Hopefully the car should be more competitive at Sepang, and Hülkenberg will have some good luck to make up for this weekend. A shame that Force India has already bagged a decent haul of points, but it should be a close fight between these two teams in particular, especially once Gutiérrez gets fully up to speed.

I would guess some sort of a leak, the source of which couldn't be identified in time, as Kaltenborn specified that the withdrawal was made on safety grounds (i.e. fire risk).

I feel Sauber constantly gets a free pass from the press. I mean, look at the crappy strategies last year, and the incredibly awful decision in Q2 in both Germany and Silverstone where the car was strong. Somehow, even after that, the press would always come up with a story on the lines of "the drivers are at fault" ... especially Sauber's official spokesperson Roger Benoit.
Now that Hulkenberg is on board as a highly rated driver, and that they committed a massive screw up here, I hope to see balanced criticism.
About Esteban, hard to tell. He had pace, but only 3 or 4 laps after changing tyres. After his second stop he was losing 4 seconds to Bottas in the first few laps (even lost that position on track), and then eventually he caught up, being much faster than the Williams. Hard to tell what was that about without Nico as reference. Really hope the car doesn't take that long to bring them up to decent temperature.

the sad thing was that 10 Min before his DNS he said to german TV that his goal for this GP is to driver more than one lap... that would already be alot more than he ever did before...
I was sad the whole GP as he did not start....

Well, qualifying wasn't great, but after reading that both drivers were on used tyres (due to the team's radar not working) before the rain fell, I'm slightly more optimistic. Still worried that this will be a much leaner year than 2012, though.

I think Sauber are in a similar position to McLaren in that they've redesigned a lot of their car for this year hoping to find more speed in a fresh design. They'll have to grit their teeth and get through these initial races where the predominantly-evolutionary cars do well. You only have to look at how similar the Force India is to last year's model to see that they might potentially run out of development avenues for it later in the season.
Sauber have a good base to improve, and they've got a fantastic driver in Hulkenberg to grab some big points. Gutierrez has fairly low expectations at first and I think the odd points finish should be considered good progress.

Heroic stuff from Hulkenberg today.
Esteban was in route for his 1st point, but they decided to try a 3 stop strategy that involved ~30 laps on a set of mediums instead of covering for Vergne and Bottas. Typical ******** Sauber strategy. He also lost a lot of positions in the start, which didn't help.

welll if there wasn't that RB drama.... this day would be great.. .I'm so happy for Sauber who are my favorite team :o Hülk did so well.... they are not as good as last year.... but .... Hülkenberg is doing really good and Gutierrez isn't doing TOO bad either

Decent result, but the team profited from McLaren and Force India's misfortune. Quite a lot of work to do, but at least Hülkenberg has settled in nicely and Gutiérrez is proving sensible and decently quick, with hopefully more to come when he has built up some more experience.

He said pre-season that the car was "amazing" if memory serves, in high-speed corners, but that hasn't seemed too evident this weekend. Perhaps the car get's unsettled when there are direction changes in high speed. I mean, one thing is T3 on CdC, quite another is T5-6 on Sepang Int.

Since they indeed needed the 4th stop, Esteban would be right in that they should have stopped when they had a cushion to Vergné and Bottas. Would have exited behind, but not a big gap plus fresh tyres.

She's not doing the strategy. Taking into account Sauber's brilliant strategy calls in the past, they obviously leave those decisions up to a coin toss or something.yep, Esteban had 10th assured had he stopped again. My guess on who messed up? Monisha for sure

As a Checo fan I absolutely hated when Sauber put all the pressure on Sergio (Monaco for example) and the kid couldnt say anything back as he was just a kid with no F1 experience. However with Hulk I'm glad he's being an aggresive leader with the team and talking strong to the team, maybe Monisha will get a clue and start listening to his drivers.

I haven't payed close enough attention to say if this is definitely true or not, but if it is, I wonder if its just a calculated risk they take for the team's sake? When you're in the midfield and ranging from 6th to 14th or so, points aren't always a 'gimme' in any given race weekend. But if you can ensure that at least ONE driver gets a good finishing position, it could benefit in the long run. For instance:Like a true mediocre team, they always split strategies with the drivers (with the tyre saving one almost always assigned to Perez), seems like they're scared of going with one for both drivers
A single 8th place is better than a 9th and 10th place combined(4 vs 3).
A single 7th place finish is equal to an 8th and 9th place combined(6 vs 6). It is better than an 8th and 10th place finishes(6 vs 5). It is also TWICE as good as a 9th and 10th place finish(6 vs 3).
A single 6th place finish is equal to a 7th and a 9th place finish combined(8 vs 8).
So really, for the team in the midfield, this sort of splitting of strategies might actually make a good bit of sense.

Hulk understood how Kobayashi felt on this team last year.
I've seen same situations for 3 years; too slow pitstops, rubbish strategies and no points.
Hulk shouldn't move to Sauber, it's possible that he is in a same way as Kobayashi - loses his seat in F1.
