McLaren continues where they had left last year. (Mind you, I still do not know with any degree of precision how anyone defines, or what makes car "fastest" among all).

I'm going with Red Bull, with the next group of Lotus, Ferrari and McLaren all close.

The car which shows stronges performance needed to win races. It's not only race pace or qualifying or both. You take into acount driver performance and mistakes and team mistakes as well, and unlucky situations beyond competitors control.How are you defining fastest car for Melbourne? Cannot decide between RBR and McLaren, but those would be my bet. That said, Lotus could well be up there, and so could Ferrari. The poll should have a "clueless" option.

probably RBR then Lotus in my opinion. at least "reporters" were saying that RBR never lose rear similar to Lotus and that they are so well balanced. on the other hand, McLaren looked fast but few times had a problem with rear or front.

Based on my own arbitrary analysis, I'd say that if things stay as they are, RBR have it in their pocket, easily--but I'm by no means an expert on judging these things.

Ferrari have the race pace. McLaren best qualifying pace (though not the drivers to show it), Red Bull have the best combination of short and long run pace.

I am sticking with yet another championship run for Red Bull. They look mighty fast even on hard tyres, just think what they can do on the softs then? Of course this is way too early to judge on who has the quickest package. McLaren looks really strong too but when it comes to tactics and sublime pit services, everyone else comes second to Red Bull. So if Vettel continues his good form from last season, he'll win this year yet again.

I would be pleasantly surprised if the Enstone team turns out to be the fastest, given the fact that they have the least resources.

Could depend on track. In 2008 Ferrari was average in Australia, yet dominant in Malaysia.
If I'd wager a guess, Australia would suit McLaren, but Malaysia RBR and Lotus. Ferrari I am not sure about, they are a constant.

RBR has balance, most complete team, very good ingredients = number one
mclaren has some unfinished business in pits, lost hamilton and button cannot drive well in not best machinery
lotus seems very good prepared, but god knows how they are competitive in development race thats achilles heel for Lotus
ferrari although massa has that best fastest lap, i am not convinced, that car is okay, i think this year is crucial for domenicalli career sometimes big pressure is not good, if vettel lands 4th WDC alonso will be pissed

There are some who have rightly asked what will be regarded as the fastest car. As we have seen last year the arguably fastest car driven by two fine drivers could not even get second place in the WCC ranking. I will just launch a poll after the first GP and we will get another wrong outcome to compare with this one ;).
Another one should follow after the first third of the season, which should give a better view on the car performance. Obviously the cars will be different then.

It's not 2012 anymore
I think it might have changed, for instance equal qualifying and race pace for all 3 cars (and I mean really equal) I voted McLaren, but it is just a gut feeling, I haven't even tried to analyse the data we got from the testing.

That being said, it's probably Red Bull, closely followed by Lotus, McLaren and Ferrari.

Honestly don't have a clue, but i think RB, Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus look very tightly matched with Merc slightly behind the pack.

I voted McLaren. They have the best of both worlds. They were pretty convincing in the last third of the championship last season. They have integrated - it seems successfully(I know its its only Jerez) - the positive concepts of 2012 in their 2013 design, while keeping the strengths of their 2012 design. They are the only team who made major design changes on their 2013 contender.
