Guess the Podium - Australia 2013 Results

We are back in business

Räikkönen was not a very popular guess, and - unsurprisingly - not a single player picked him for the win! Still, he rewarded those who picked him for the second place, and I have a feeling he will be much more popular come round two...

Congratulations to DaddyCool, he guessed correctly all the drivers on the podium (though not in the right place), and takes the lead for the Championship! JEAN, Iranie, Iscurrega, Anderis, Estwald, did the same, but the order of their guesses was not as good. They are pretty close, though...

Australia results (and overall standings):

The host messed up big time - see below for discussion, and updated results. Strangely enough, the order didn't change too much..

Roll on, Malaysia - I'm pretty sure McLaren won't feature high in our guesses there...

Nope. You would have got 3 points for Vettel if he were to come 3rd (and 2 points if he was 2nd), to reward precision. You now get 1 point for Vettel (you had him first), and 2 points from Alonso (you had him third).

Suppose your guess is Butt/Vett/Alon.

If Butt is 1st, 10 points
if Butt is 2nd, 6 points
if Butt is 3rd, 3 points

If Vett is 2nd, 6 points
if Vett is 1st, 4 points
if Vett is 3rd, 2 points

If Alon is 3rd, 3 points
if Alon is 2nd, 2 points
if Alon is 1st, 1 point.

As a result, the points were distributed as follows:
Raik: 10 / 6 / 4
Alon: 4 / 6 / 2
Vett: 1 / 2 / 3
Or am I misinterpreting my rules wrong?

My guess was: Vett/Hami/Alon which is comparable to Butt/Vett/Alon in your example.
The result was Raik/Alon/Vett which would be the same Raik/Alon/Butt in your example.
And that would have given you 0+2+3=5 in your case. So my guess should also have counted for 0+2+3=5, I think.

I still think you have it wrong, maybe I miss something.....

An easy way for us to check our score is to use the example posted by costaz and replace correspondingly the drivers.

For example:

Take from the original post:

if Alon is 1st, 1 point.

My guess was Vett/Raik/Butt. I use the above by replacing (starting from first place to third place) Butt with Vett, Vett with Raik and finally Alon with Butt. So the above example becomes:

If Vett is 1st, 10 points
if Vett is 2nd, 6 points
if Vett is 3rd, 3 points

If Raik is 2nd, 6 points
if Raik is 1st, 4 points
if Raik is 3rd, 2 points

If Butt is 3rd, 3 points
if Butt is 2nd, 2 points
if Butt is 1st, 1 point.

Looking an the actual results I get 3 points for Vettel finishing 3rd, 4 points for Raikonnen finishing first and zero points for Button who finished outside the podium. Total 7 points, as is in the standings.

Last year's model was nice and efficient. However, the decision is made to go for a big change, as the simulation says that it will produce better and more exciting results. Come race one, the whole thing blows up in your face... And before a mod closes the thread down for getting out of topic, I'm not talking about Whitmarsh and McLaren, but the debacle your host has created with the game....

Of course, scheivlak was right, and I did manage to misinterpret my own brand-new rules, and - as a result - to miscalculate the results from Round 1. This will show me to make changes. Here are the revised results/standings:
