At least they have increased it from 2 minutes to 2:40. Was a "meh" though, which the race was as well.

Malaysia is up - http://www.formula1....uid=2013032402R

Good one, a little bit slow in the middle, but much better than many from last year. And the music, they got some humor ;)

We get to hear the Multi21 from Rocky to Seb, which wasn't broadcasted originally I think, but nothing new sadly.

Malaysia wasn't too bad. I was hoping they would be able to make this one epic, like Turkey 2010, with all the drama that went on. It wasn't at that level, but better than most nowadays.

Turkey 2010 is the best race edit I've seen.

A great song, and the video footage fits in nicely with the song.

The majority of the 2010 race edits where great, but they went downhill after 2011.

Bahrain is up. Pretty cool - for a 10th grade school project! They type Button's statements out onto the screen. They should have shown the champaign celebration at the end rather than the lifting of the cup. I don't know why I bother watching sometimes... Maybe it is to marvel at the fact that there are so many out of work really stellar film editors and F1 sticks to this video making group that leaves much to be desired.

I mean come on man - who is picking this music? Bernie?

Well because it is you, I will have to give it another listen before consigning it to Bernie music.

Really bad job. Telling more about it would be a waste of words and time. Save some traffic to your local ISP and don't watch it. If you dare, you have been warned.

I personally found Malaysia 2009 to be the high point musically (it was genuinely amusing), but I think the general level of the videos is very, very poor. That said, most of what the FIA/FOM seem to try in these regards is pretty poor so this is not surprising.

Monaco is online - I prefer Youtube than the buggy and slow F1.com player.

Quite expected, no racing, just some flashy images and crashes.

why don't people like the videos, how would you do it differently?

For a start you can use different music - it may be shocking, but in such free forms of entertainment more than one melody can exist.
Next we have the timing - the audio and video could be synchronized to match the accents - if there's, let's say, a crash on the video footage, match it with strong beat (in terms of strong and weak beats, Accents).
Use some effects, but most of all, make sure to include what's relevant for the race, instead of showing landscape frames. If there are three overtakes in the whole race - show them in a spectacular fashion. Team radio? Sure, use some dramatic sound effects to emphasize what has been said.

It's a bit of a common sense work - in three minutes show the best of the race weekend amplified and supplemented by the right music and audio / video effects. It's not a tough job, many have done it. My words here are from experience - when I was really young I used to do that stuff, audio only.

In the thread with 2012 videos we have already agreed that they can open-source the video data and make a competition - the best submitter's video wins the privilege to be shown on f1.com. That's a mutual benefit, a win-win situation, as they won't be bothering creating the video, we as viewers will enjoy different perspectives and some really talented editor could appear.
I know, unfortunately, that this is not going to happen due to copyright.

I actually thought the Monaco edit was one of the best ones recently. Maybe that's a low standard, but the video is well put together, the music is okay. Could do with a bit more team-radio.
