I'm thinking about last year's race as well.
His record at Barber isn't very good though, he averages about 13th.
Ah, fair enough!

Looks like AJA will be getting another race outing in the Indycars before the 500, apart from this race.

Allmendinger's a star -- I really hope this is a prelude to a full-time drive in the series.
Posted 06 April 2013 - 14:16
Oh! My apologies. I thought you were talking about Indycar competition in general. Hinch's record at Barber isn't remarkably strong.
Bourdais was incredible at Barber last year. It's a shame Dragon don't seem to have a handle on car setup yet.
Could be a bit early to say, but who was the last Indycar rookie as strong as Vautier? Dixon? Tags? Danica?

If we're counting just IRL, then Hinchcliffe (he got two 4th places like Danica but was better on road courses overall). CCWS it would have to be Allmendinger, and before that Dixon in CART.
Without wishing to sound facetious, I'd say Pagenaud from last year

Good shouts. Interesting how hard a time rookies have had making an impact on IRL, relative to CCWS/CART. Guess those ovals take a little longer to learn.

If anything, rookies have been good on ovals historically in both series but less so on road courses (Mansell's CART championship was won on the back of his oval wins\podiums early on). Which is odd given how many of them came from road racing backgrounds.

Greg Moore too. Nearly won his first Indycar race at Homestead, but he was a threat to win at three or four ovals that year. And Tags, and Montoya.
Whole world of difference between the amount of testing any of those names got, and what happens nowadays.

Ugh....you mean the TV coverage isn't live?Interesting qualifying session. RHR on pole, Vautier third and Kimball fifth. Bourdais outqualified by Saavedra.

I'm in the USA, I thought it was live at 5:00EST on NBC. That's OK......I need to do some work in the yard....or take a nap instead. Not in the UK it isn't.

No, Autosport fails at reporting. I just Ctrl+C'd the entire table from the website.

You're an hour off, I think. It's 11.21 in Alabama now, and the race starts at 2:40 there.
Posted 07 April 2013 - 16:43
Yeah 6:30 - 6:40 BST I think?
Posted 07 April 2013 - 16:59
Does anybody know when green flag is? I've only got a ballpark time of 7:30pm BST at the moment.
