Damn Piquet has terrible luck. Great job by Elliott in his debut race.
Woman participating in historically a "men's" sport is a pretty big story. The fact that there is virtually no black driver's in the sport is perhaps not something NASCAR wants to bring more attention to. I hope Wallace does well, I like diversification on the track and in the stands. It would be cool to have some Asian driver's compete as well.
Karun Chandhock is at a loose end for most of the season, and he has real character as well.

Wallace isn't a first Afro-Carribean to race in NASCAR , whereas Patrick is the first to claim a pole position - It's all about marketing; I'm sure that when Wallace gets a pole in NASCAR the marketing men will use it.
Yeah, but folks were riding Danica's jock long before she got hold of a pole.
I get why she is popular, she is a good looking woman. Easy to sell.
Wallace is going to be the next tiger woods, but hopefully less sex scandals.

I dunno, she wasn't shabby against drivers like AJA, Dalziel, Joey Hand, Ranger etc in Atlantics, and the Indy 500 qualifying\race in 2005 no doubt earned her a lot of attention. Her form has tanked lately, but I've said as much in the Nascar threads already.

Might be tuff since Wendell Scott was on the pole at Savannah short track in 1962 .

I'm not sure that the marketing department had quite the prominence then that it has now.

I'm surprised that NW doesn't run Martinsville.
I personally think it's a mistake to have two weekends off in succession as far as the momentum of the season and keeping the series visible to the public. Formula 1 has not been good about this in some years - wasn't there a four or five week break before the finale in 1997?
Is it possible they removed a few NW tracks because of being rough on equipment during the economic downturn? would have to look at the schedule, but seems some other events were changed. I see Martinsville as being a driver's track with few fluke winners, would be good to have in 2nd level series.

My thing I'm interested in is brake cooling. With the new bodywork around the noses, I'm thinking that making the brake ducting work is going to be a new ballgame. I hope they have lots of coverage of the suspension cams.

I was less than impressed with the "fine dining" at Martinsville, I expect the manager of the restaurant was cringing during that piece.Don't worry Salty..

On the other hand, I am enthralled with the new Dr. Pepper 10 ad campaign, I'm old enough (barely) to remember the early 1970's tv shows and commercials they are spoofing.
Edit: I suspect Atreiu doesn't know the source material for the Dr. Pepper commercials!

This Dr Pepper commercial is horrible. A beard hobo in the wildlife drinks it, hurray.

I think he went off line into the marbles, I have no idea why though.
that would explain whyCrew chief Steve Letarte: Take your time, we have plenty of time. The team found something loose on the bottom of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car. "Thank, God!" Junior says, sounding relieved. "It was annoying."
