Istanbul in and Korea out for me.

Never understood the appeal of Imola, does zilch for me but each to his own!

I can't speak for anyone else, but my attraction to Imola (at least the version used from 1980-1994) was that it was a high speed circuit. There are too many circuits presently that all share similar characteristics with layout as Tilke favors the long straight into a very slow 90 degree corner for the most part. Imola had a lot more fast corners. What I liked was that once you pulled out onto the start/finish straight, it was a flat-out run all the way to Tossa. Imola also had a fantastic atmosphere to it. I miss a lot of the high speed circuits personally (Imola, Hockenheim) and am glad at least Monza and Spa are still on the calendar. I wasn't much of a fan of the 1995-2006 Imola as they look away the main overtaking section, but from what I have seen of sportscars on the renovated circuit, it looks to have restored part of the original idea of Imola.

Indeed. Post 1994 Imola was just inadequate for F1.
If the tifosi could pack GPs twice a year, I'd send them to Mugello before Imola, even after the changes.

Agreed. Now Mugello does look like a fast flowing circuit with little room for errors. Plenty of elevation changes too, always makes things more interesting!

Mugello would have issues with overtaking just like Catalunya does.

Istanbul Park in, Korea out.

A1 Ring...the scenery was so mesmerizing.....

Why not go one better and have the old Österreichring (outside the 20 years, but indulge me).

How can you have Old Hockenheim back when the circuit doesn't exist anymore? M

I quite like Estoril, or for a newer one Istanbul Park. Get rid of Yeongham, though that's apparently going once the contract runs out anyway. Second choices must be Abu Dhabi or India. Both have seen bland and poor races on uninspiring circuits.

Really is that part of the debate? Nothing a dozer and a road building crew could not fix in a few weeks.

As for Adelaide, ok when it was dry, abysmal when it rained as the drainage was all wrong. And yes I have raced that track when wet!
The Pirelli, intermediate tyre they use these days would red flag the race with a light shower,, remember spin spin spin!

The scenery at A1 ring was amazing and would produce fab racing.

And kick out bloody rain-no spectators-dull-grey Yeongam track!

Edit: add "not finished" to Yeongam

Imola. It might not have produced the best races but I've always liked the track. On the other hand there should be a French GP but I don't care much for Magny Cours.

I choosed Istanbul and Catalunya without too much thought.

But a few people mentioned A1 and i remember the track and I remember that i didn't hate it.
So looked for an onboard lap:

It looks to me like a drivers track where you you need good judgement, basicly if you get greedy you will pay, and we all remember cars flying of the last corner. :)

Thinking about that today they would put asphalt there and it wouldn't be so tense... Not for us and not for the drivers.

Oh, T1 and T2 now without sand traps...

Donnington in for the Craner Curves.

Bahrain out because they clearly don't want F1 there.

I voted the A1-Ring back in - Old Hockenheim would be lovely, but totally unrealistic. The A1 Ring was a short, fast circuit and always produced fantastic GPs. And the scenery was stunning - I just wish we could see F1 cars racing there on a sunny day in HD! Though the looks were slightly ruined when they asphalted all the runoffs in 2003.

Get rid of India, its just pointless. Abu Dhabi would get my boot too as its equally uninspiring, but at least it looks pretty at sunset.

I have always liked Magny Cours. A1 was nice too.

Monaco should go. It's terrible and unsuitable track for F1 cars and it is with F1 only because traditions and rich people athmosphere.

If all of them come back that will be sweet. :D Bye bye Korea, India, Abu Dhabi, Sakhir, Singapore, Shanghai. Terrible circuits. There are lots of good old ones that can replace them.

Old Hockenheim in: F1 needs more variety in circuits.

Abu Dhabi out: The 2nd worst F1 circuit ever after Valencia.

Btw, many people seem to hate Korea even though the track is great, the area just looks terrible.

The cars did look great at Imola though- all the heavy kerb hopping and quick changes of direction.

A1 Ring in and Sakhir out would be my choice. The one I don't understand the level of appeal for is the old Hockenheim. Maybe because it was different? But I don't remember a particularly exciting race there. You would think with the long straights it would be slip streaming heaven, but it never was.

I do hate to spoil the fun, but as far as I'm aware the other circuits all still exist and could still hold a race, if the willpower and finances is there. Old Hockenheim is gone for good, and they're not going to rebuild it after spending so much on the new shorter track.

Of course we want to get rid of the present Silverstone and Spa. Compared to the original circuits they are a joke. In their original configurations they were both 150mph average speed circuits, as was Monza. And that was in the days of 400HP 3 litre engine cars. I don't care what circuits people want to bring back....as long as they don't come back with those bloody chicanes

Get rid of all Tike circuits, bring back Imola, old Spa, Montjuic, Zandvoort, etc.

Catalunya isn't actually a bad circuit, it flows properly, there's corners like Campsa and T3 which are quality. The problem is it tends to come up with **** races because passing is difficult and everyone has 500000000kms of experience testing and racing in it, but I'd rather have a track like that in the calendar than featureless places with no redeeming features whatsoever like Abu Dhabi (yes I really do hate that one).

The final chicane ruined Catalunya a bit, I do have to admit... those last two corners were great.

That would of meant freezing development at some point in the seventies. Today's cars are simply far too fast for many of the old circuits. You either have the choice of creating new circuits or modifying existing ones and allowing the cars to get faster, or having much slower cars just to keep the old circuits on the calendar. The old tracks were after all designed with the cars of the eras in mind - and in an era where safety was nothing more than an afterthought. People complain about chicanes at Monza, but without them it's too fast.

I can't believe what I'm reading--sorry. 'Fast' is what motor racing is all about: you should have the world's fastest vehicles and the drivers who dare to race them--those who are afraid to do so can sit on the sidelines. For additional information, see 'MotoGP'. :p

Maybe they'd like to see it back in it's unneutered form? All the acres of new tarmac run-off have made previously challenging corners such as Pouhon completely risk free. And Eau Rouge is now a flat out sweep in modern F1 cars. It's not quite the challenge it once was- maybe in the wet it is, but then again modern F1 is risk averse to running in wet conditions.

Yep, they Magny-Cours'd it. Another track that's final sector was destroyed in a failed attempt to create overtaking.

Well the circuit itself hasn't changed since 1983 apart from the Bus Stop-La Source section. But what I really can't fathom is that anyone would actually consider it the worst circuit on the calendar and worthy of being dropped.

Bring back Indianapolis. Though the infield track wasn't that great, nor were the races, it was nice to see the F1 cars driving on part of the oval, looked cool. And with DRS the overtaking would be great towards turn 1.

Also Indy is close for a lot of cities. The following are within 6 hours: Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis, Saint Louis, and Pittsburgh.

Austin is only really convenient for people in Texas. Hell it is over 8 hours to get from Amarillo TX to Austin.

I've never really quite understood the like/love for Magny Cours. It's not a bad track relative to some of what we have currently on the calendar. Would I take it over Yeongam? Sure. But is it the best circuit F1 could race on in France? Absolutely not. Paul Ricard was always a much better choice for the French GP. Nothing like Le Castellet in July with the bright blue skies.

I agree.

Le Mans for F1 would be quite a sight, but that's not too safe.
