Didn't even think that, I would love to see him in red, then we can somewhat compare the relative standing of Vettel/Alonso, but maybe he is going for the unenviable record of Barrichello's, being beaten to a WDC 6 times, he has got three so far with a fourth looking fairly likely and a record is a record, at least he has longest time to first GP win from debut race. But about Hamilton vs Alonso (round 2), Webber vs Rosberg (round 2) and Vettel vs Bourdais (round 2), I think 2 of them would be close but Bourdais would just wipe the floor with Vettel. Seems realistic?Ah but if Kimi goes to RedBull and then Mark goes to Lotus or even Ferrari (unlikely I know) then that would make 3 interesting team mate battles (Hammy v. Rosberg, Seb v. Kimi, Webber v. Alonso or other Lotus driver)

From the comments Webber has made about Formula One recently, about how the new racing is boring (correct), and how F1 needs to look at itself, he sounds to me like a man who has become disillusioned with the sport and already has made his mind up. I wouldn't be surprised if he'd already signed for Porsche, even though he says he hasn't.
I found his interview with Alonso that the BBC did (I think for the Spanish GP) very interesting, where he said basically that F1 may be the pinnacle of motorsport, but there is always more interesting cars to drive, and that there is more to motorsport than just F1.

Ditto, purely because it will be the same same even if he has a race winning car. I'd prefer if Webber went to Lotus/Ferrari/Sports cars. A change will do him some good - who knows what the new regs will bring.
Same here.

If Rebull if they sign up such an old consistent under achiever up again it will confirm they are the most one man team in the sport and don't care about it. Hopefully they finally sign up a fresh good driver who might be able to beat Vettel, but they will probably just sign up Riccardo who is young enough to spend the next decade as his number 2.
NO fresh good driver will be able to beat Vettel right now.
For the same reason that Hamilton isn' t beating Rosberg.
And if Rosberg joined McLaren, I don't think he'd be beating Lewis (if Lewis stayed).

According to Radio Le Mans (who are normally spot on with these things) a current Formula One driver had a seat fitting at Weissach recently.

Well they've already signed Neel Jani, an ex F1 tester... how many cars are they hoping to enter next year?

Not so sure if Kimi is part of the Red Bull 'family' though.
Personally see Mark returning to Le Mans with Porsche. He does seem fonder of the Porsche brand.

They haven't said, we can only guess.
Worse case scenario (unlikely to happen given they are ahead of schedule) 1 car for the entire WEC season, expanding to two for Le Mans, like Toyota did last year. Best case scenario two cars for the entire WEC, maybe a third for Le Mans, like Audi this year.
So yeah, anywhere between 1-3 cars.

Webber might stay on I guess hoping that he can find an affinity with next years cars. I mean they'll require a slightly different skill to master and there is therefore a chance that it will help close the gap between him & his teammate. If he doesn't think this will happen then I hope he'll jump ship so we can have some new combinations at work and maybe pit two other champions together.

I'd say that if those days weren't already gone, the chances of that happening are virtually non-existent.

Well you don't have to look at Kubica with much more recent tragedy. That said I doubt RBR considers Webber irreplaceable enough to even entertain the idea of letting him divide his attention between two almost equally demanding disciplines.

As i have posted many times, and i'm getting this info. well down the Food Chain,Mark has several options for next season,i'm sure that one of them is Lotus but it may be a smokescreen for something else.In the Oz. radio interview Mark hinted he had been in contact with DM so there may be a verbal in place similar to the last couple of years,if he stays in F-1 it will be with RB.

I don't want Mark to stay at RB, because I think it'd be better for him to be at Ferrari, but if I was Red Bull, I'd want to keep Mark. They keep winning the WCC, and Mark is very much the outdoorsy type that fits the brand of RB.

Yup. Mark has dealt directly with DM since mid 2010. It's clear that Mark & DM have a very good relationship. Straight forward & honest with each other & obviously a mutual respect. Safe to say Horner or Marko are irrelevant when it comes to Webbo's contracts at RBR.

When DM declared last year that in his team there is no No. 1 (or 2), then was he not telling the truth, or people like Horner simply decided to disobey their master and the guy who keeps cash flowing into their bank accounts, and have mind on their own who receives a preferential treatment, and who is not? I think that mnmracer might be onto something here.

RB will want him to stay because a) It'll be the best driver pairing in the field b) It's the most successful driver pairing since Schumi/Barrichello and c) They need Webber and Vettel's baselines to provide feedback for next year's car, which will change a lot.

Pre 2009- a lot of people were expecting Webber to give Vettel a good hiding or certainly he would have the edge- that's how highly he was rated
Now, Webber has very quickly been made out to be useless to diminish Vettel's achievements
The opposite of Hamilton teaming up with Rosberg- finding it a hard match- and now everyone is saying Rosberg is the 2nd coming.

I agree, but I think Webber is put down by some as to some how diminish Vettel's achievements, scary that Vettel is only 25, Webber wasn't even in f1 at that stage. In my opinion 2012 was a more impressive title than 2010/2011 combined as he had to fight hard, but back on topic, Webber has to believe he can beat Vettel, he has to, in f1 you need to be able to believe that, but maybe he wants a fresh challenge and after 7 years, I completely understand. Lotus if an option would be nice, in that situation, I guess RBR would choose KIMI or possibly JEV or DR, but as a DR supporter, I dont want him near anyone that good just yet. And for the people saying, "why does he want to go through all that evil that is RB once again", maybe it's not that bad, Mark seems to get along well with key management figures and only he and others close to him would know the situation. Sometimes he says some odd things, but stick a microphone in front a driver who feels annoyed after a race, and you are likely to get that...yet forgetting how Webbo fared against Rosberg, or make excuses for a rookie year (which of course never comes into play in the HAM/ALO lovefest).

When the other option is a similar/identical sum of money and a better chance at becoming an FIA World Champion, as well as a chance of winning the greatest race in the world, yes, I would.
Better option over being Red Bull's whipping boy/Vettel's bitch for ANOTHER year...

The two best teams have perhaps the 2 best drivers (imo) and although Merc, Lotus or McLaren are great drives, they're not if youre coming from Red Bull.
Also, sportscar drivers seem to be able to go much longer, into their 40's, so thats by no means passing him by if he waits a year or 2.

I see it somewhat differently Sakae. I have a sense that DM does believe in both drivers being treated equally & that Mark deals directly with him because of that assurance from DM. Mark trusts DM's integrity. It's clear that Webber is being well beaten by Vettel on merit, not because there is a clear #1 & #2 philosophy at RBR. You will always have the few rabid Webber fans who will always believe he's being treated as a #2, and maybe if Marko called the shots that would be the case. But I think he's just being beaten by a better driver. The Malaysia incident may have got some up arms about Webber's treatment again but going by DM's reaction & his laying down the law, that was more of an aberration than the norm. And with DM laying down the law to Horner & Co (even threatening to pull out of F1) I don't think we'll see anything like that again.
Personally I hope Webber moves on in 2014 to another team or to Porsche but he may see the change in regulations as his final chance to match it & possibly beat Seb. He's said recently that he won't continue racing if he doesn't think he can win. As long as he's got the belief in himself then why not I guess.
