I gotta admit I stole the idea from another forum, but I thought it was a great idea, cause it's intresting to know.. and for once a topic not to argue about ;)...

So which of the many circuits in the world is closest to you

the closest real track is Sachsenring 64km from me

here a motogp onboard video

closer is only the Porsche Teststrecke, but that is only a testing track so it doesn't count really, cause no races are held there ;)
closest F1 track is Hockenheimring

Apart from the street courses I make up whenever I'm walking around town, it's Mosport.

Might want to talk to a professional about that.

Umm... being from the midwest I have quite a few. Grattan Raceway is an circuit (with a swimming pool) which hosts mostly SCCA races and amateur motorcycle and motocross races. There are like 5-6 short ovals (dirt and asphalt) within 100 miles of my home. One Berlin Raceway is about 5 miles down the road (some traveling series can be heard from my home on quite nights).

Three Sisters isn't probably the "real" racing circuit so otherwise closest for me is Oulton Park.
Great track in a nice setting, with some really challenging corners IMO and elevation changes.

Vålerbanen it is. Hosted STCC event for a couple of years

The fact that the track is only 30km away from where I live is kinda amazing, when Norway only have 3 circuits...

Another person who has Castle Combe as their closest circuit checking in. I went there for marshall training once; they seemed really nice. Down to earth people who really cared about the safety of the marshalls and drivers. The wikipedia page includes one of the better 'citation needed' that I've seen in a while:

"One aspect of the circuit which has remained unchanged throughout the years is the large population of rabbits who live in the extensive tyre barriers around the circuit.[citation needed]"

Yeah, don't be coming here with your wild talk of roaming bunnies, back that shit up, please.

Castle Combe itself, by the way, is one of the prettiest villages in England (in a very self-conscious way) and lots of films have been shot there like the original Dr Doolittle and War Horse.

Rockingham is 40 mins away (27 miles by road)

Donington Park about an hour and a bit (59 miles)

Mallory Park near identical to Donington

Snetterton another 10 mins

Although I go to Brands Hatch more than any of the above which is about 2 hours away.

Saying that we've had our fair share of BRM's driving through Bourne though so motor racing never far away...

The closest to me is the temporary street circuit here in Adelaide. About 6km away and I often hear it from home.
The closest real racetrack is Adelaide International Raceway, about 45min away, though currently it is only a sometime drag strip. There has been no road racing for about 10 years and that was run under the Auscar banner. The oval has not been used in even longer.
And right next door is Speedway City which is in regular operation.
Then Mallala which is about 15min up the road from AIR,, or Murray Bridge Speedway about an hour away in pretty much the opposite direction

There are some amateurish tracks, but this one is the most professional. Racing isn't that popular in Poland anyway.

I'm pretty much equidistant between Silverstone & Thruxton. The latter just edges it (and is a more interesting drive)
