Andy Mc Gladdery

Andy McGladdery was involved in an accident and died on Sunday while out on his Kawasaki road bike. Only saw this myself today in the MCN, sad news, my early memories of Andy was on the 250 and 350 Ernest Jackson Demolition Yamaha's a great competitor. My thoughts with his Family.

That's sad news. Mile for mile it's probably more dangerous on the bloody roads nowadays.

That is terribly sad news, remember Andy Mac up at East Fortune with an RG500 around the same time as Phil Mellor and Neil Tuxworth entering Scottish races. He was amazing on the "Growler" Kawasaki F1 bike in TTF1 and a real thorn in the side to works teams riding GSXR and RC30 machines. As well as that did he not give the Norton Rotary it's first national win?.

Thanks HW..dunno if it was Stars at Darley or a race at Carnaby, nonetheless as you say a fierce rider in the TTF1 class. I only bumped into him once when his converted ambulance was parked near the Port Jack Chippy, was awfy nice to a daft young Scots lad, and signed my race programme and blethered about racing on the roads.

Good guy who had a passion for two wheels.
It's either that or a catheter up the old willy and a group standing around your bed saying death would be a blessing while you struggle to get a lung full of air. We just don't live forever and death is all about timing.

I recall Andy doing the auctioneering honours for the Leigh anne Johns fundraising do at Northallerton FC at the end of the 93 season, Geoff Crust managed to get a shed load of stuff from the 500cc boys including Alex Barros' DIC helmet at which Andy was shouting "who wants to be a dic head" , most sought after item if I remember rightly was Schwantz' racing leathers, needless to say bids were sky high for everything.
I was lucky enough to see Andy win a superstock race at Knockhill and also race a Honda NS500 at the 87 British GP.
