Two Greats in One team.

I think it's inevitable that in the approaching years that 1 or more of the top teams will opt for hiring 2 "great" drivers.

Just like in the 80's and early 90's when there were more great drivers (Senna,Prost,Mansell,Piquet) than competitve teams,except now it's Vettel,Alonso,Hamilton,Raikkonen.

We had Mansell and Piquet at Williams in '86/87

Senna and Prost at McLaren '88/89

Mansell and Prost at Ferrari in 1990.

Imagine if Senna and Mansell drove in the same team.. I would have loved to have seen that!

Which 2 great drivers amongst Vettel,Alonso,Hamilton and Raikkonen would you like to see in the same team?.

I would like to see Vettel and Hamilton in one team.

And I think Marussia is the team that would really like to have them.

I was just thinking the other day "When was the last time we had 2 world champions in one team" and I honestly couldn't look past McLaren with Prost and Senna, who were both at the time world champions. Then I remembered Button and Hamilton.

I've always wanted to see Kimi vs Alonso. We didn't get it at McLaren in 2007, we didn't get it at Ferrari in 2010 but hopefully we can see it next year.

I would also like to see Vettel vs Hamilton. Both are immense in qualifying so I'm curious to see who would come out on top.

SV and KR - don't think there would be much in the way of politicking with these two, both would do their talking on the track, which is where I ultimately want to see it.

Ferrari - I don't see RBR upsetting the apple cart after 3 WDC/WCC on the trot.  Merc have their lineup,   Lotus doesn't have the money.  Macca and the rest not good enough to attract two top drivers,  That leaves Ferrari

Really hard to pick a driver pairing because any combination would be great. Gone for Kimi/Alonso because I've been wanting to see this pair for longer. McLaren most likely to sign 2 greats.

I'm desperate to see Hamilton and Vettel in the same team.

Both are ridiculous in qualifying, and it would be great to see how well they would get on in the race.

To be honest any way of combining Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen and Vettel into two pairs would be nice to see. Since Hamilton is tied to Mercedes, one pair is the maximum possible.

Not that I can think of, but there have been several incidences of a former WDC being paired with a future WDC, or two future WDCs being paired. The combination with the highest number of eventual WDCs would be Piquet and Schumacher at Benetton in 1991.

Yeah Vettel and Hamilton would be something. Seeing how well they got along after the race actually surprised me, like they were best pals. 

Kimi and Seb at Red Bull would be my first choice though.

As did Renault in 2008 and Mercedes in 2010 (the latter being just outside the time scale requested admittedly).

Alonso and Vettel. The combination of ruthless, dominant drivers who know how to build the team around them. I expect them to clash on track and off track.   Fireworks.

Mario Andretti and Nigel Mansell at Newman Haas in Indycars in 1993 and 1994!

Well, Schumi & Piquet at Bennetton, Hill & Villeneuve at Williams, Hill & Prost at Williams, Hill & Senna at Williams, Senna & Hakkinen at McLaren and Hamilton & Alonso at McLaren.

Vettel and Raikkonen. Because these two would be willing to race with another driver on equal terms without having a melt-down. Hamilton would do the same. But I picked my two more favourites of the three. But I have always said Hamilton also is absolutely willing to play fair with any teammate.

Team: McLaren. They are the only ones who have proven to be willing to take that chance. Red Bull used to talk a lot about 'sporting, not team orders', 'letting drivers race, etc. They have a chance now to put their money on where the mouth is. Let us see what they do.

Voted Kimi + Vettel, because I believe that would actually work. However, any of those combinations would be great for F1. Unfortunately, I don't agree with the OP that such a combination is inevitable. If Kimi stays at Lotus this year, then I can easily see him retiring there and whether the other 3 top drivers will be in a single team is quite uncertain.

We need to see Alonso against Kimi.  They are the best of their generation.  One is a Ferrari champion and the other has come close.  Now is the time when they're in their prime.  Ferrari is a team that is great enough to make it happen.

I think I read somewhere a lot of time ago a forumer saying something "Alonso and Kimi, Fire and Ice". I think that combo would be really nice, and because of the personality attitude of these two I think they would make a fine team with no problems and such.

Kimi/Seb would be a cool challenge without the off track drama.

The rest would have drama, at least from one of the players and I would not enjoy that so much, especially in cases where one side wouldn't be responsive (i.e., Kimi/*anyone*) because the talker gets the media moment to slant the story his way without rebuttal - especially if the individual is liked by the most visual press and/or one of their countrymen.

I think in general people mean F1 generation sort of thing. Kimi & Fred entered F1 at the same time and Seb and Lewis entered F1 at the same time about 6 years later. 

It might not be so relevant in terms of F1 career overlap, though. For example, Montoya was another guy who debuted in 2001 with Alonso and Raikkonen. Having had a two year break, Kimi might stay longer than any of them!

Would love to see Hamilton and Vettel up against each other. Who knows, if the Mercedes team wins a few WDCs and WCCs Vettel might join Hamilton there.

Short term though, I'd love to see Button move to Red Bull or Ferrari next year. I'm curious to see how close he'd challenge Vettel or Alonso, especially after he silenced the critics who said Hamilton would 'destroy him'.

I wasn't implying that KR would beat FA necessarily, just that he doesn't give a **** about anything and is so much stronger psychologically, that it would drive FA bonkers (funny how fans behave in a similar fashion by the way). Just a denial to obey TOs and the ensuing radio comm. from both sides would be worth it I think.

Kimi "doesn't care" is nothing more but an opinion with no evidence behind it. Can you read Raikkonen's mind? Thought not.

I'm pretty sure that if Alonso beat Raikkonen in the same manner he is beating Massa now (not that I'm saying it would happen), Kimi would care and worry about his image. As would any other driver with his reputation. He's human, after all.

Also worth pointing out that when McLaren signed Senna he wasn't a WDC, though he was undoubtedly seen as a hot prospect, which Mansell wasn't.

I can only think of three examples where teams have actually signed two WDCs - Button & Hamilton, Prost and Rosberg and Clark and Hill.

The match I's most like to see is an Alonson/Hamilton rematch, though I doubt it will ever happen.  The team most likely to pair greats is Ferrari if they sign with Kimi or (preparing to duck after this next point) Button.

Raikkonen and Hamilton at McLaren.

Very interesting results from this poll and when you get 150 plus people voting it represents a much larger audience in the thousands that think the same way.

Some conclusions;

*It's clear that most people want to see Vettel challenged by a very great team mate  with most votes going for Lewis/Seb and quite alot of votes for Kimi/Seb aswell as Fernando/Seb (exactly 27 each as a write)

*Kimi/Lewis doesn't really capture the imagination of lots of people surprisingly.I tend to think that if there is one driver that can get under Kimi's skin both on and off the track,it would be Lewis.

*Fernando/Lewis is a case of "been there,done that" so get's few votes. I always get the same excitement anyway when they battle wheel to wheel in different teams as when they were both at Macca.

*Fernando/Kimi gets a large number of votes and 2nd in the poll.More than Kimi/Seb and Alonso/Seb which is surprising but it's the most realistic combination that is imminant.

I'd be happy to see any combo listed above, but with Sebi and Fernando being 1/2 in the WDC 2 out of the last 3 years (Will it be 3 out of 4?), that is the "steel cage grudge match" I most want to see. Cordial, but not friendly...let the passions overflow between these two titans. If one runs a string of victories, the reaction from the other would be near suicidal! Red Bull would be ruined after 2 years, but the racing would have been EPIC, and Ron Howard would have his next film. Come on Mateschitz, DO IT FOR THE FANS...AND HISTORY!
