Talbot colours

Apart from Hamiltons green and the Ecurie Belge & Ecurie Belgique yellow T26 in 1950-51 , were all the other French light blue with no other significances ?

I don't think that all the French cars were exactly the same blue. Pictures of Giraud-Cabantous' car seem to appear quite a bit lighter than the others.

 

Incidentally, there is a colour picture somewhere of the two Belgian cars that shows Swaters' car to be more cream than yellow.

Just to add to the confusion, I have also seen Lago-Talbots in a slightly darker shade of blue!.

I remember someone (Barry?) commenting that when he saw the definitive Talbot book he was surprised at the variety of shades of blue and how dark many of them were.

 

On another tack, does anybody know whether the Duncan Hamilton Talbot was repainted at any time during its sojourn in Australia or did it stay green?

The Duncan Hamilton Talbot was never in Australia.
It arrived in New Zealand in November 1955, where it was repainted in light blue. I don't believe it was repainted before leaving the country c1964

I remember my father having trouble deciding on exactly what blue to paint his car as there were several shades and the Talbot book(s) do show this quite well. He opted for a darker shade then the most commonly used colour but it's a bit of an oddball car anyway having been a privateer entry that raced year after it was built. I believe is was much lighter when he bought it (certainly the other body we have is much lighter) but I've only ever seen one black and white photo of it in period so you can't tell what shade of blue it is (assuming it was blue at all).

  Sorry - I was sure it was Australia.  It could be worse - I might have said "Tasman trip",  I've tried to find what Duncan Hamilton wrote in Touch Wood when he describes retreiving the car from a Belgian or French coal cellar but can't find the relevant passage.
