So, after Marks own admission of lack of motivation and now the grid penalty how long before he throws in the towel!?
Didn't he already do this after Malaysia?

I would not think less of him if he simply left so Red Bull could jump start Ricciardo and then have Da Costa or anyone else get a chance at the STR seat.

I wonder if Mark will manage to pull out a special performance for the Japanese GP?

Mark will still do everything he can to help his boyfriend Alonso, without getting fired.

Well, this season at least seems one season too long. A bit like DC, and Damon too (although MW season is nowhere near as bad as Damon's final season for Jordan), and the unmotivated rather be anywhere else but here JPM in '06.

He was massively upset and disappointed today after a frustrating session where he came back and was headed for a strike at podium only to have his engine go. I don't think you can take anything he says post race seriously - he'll be on it next race again.

In hindsight, he should have moved to another team when he had the opportunity. His results would not have been worse and he might have enjoyed it more at least. As it is he hasn't achieved anything this year to add to his legacy.
Oh well, still a great career when all is said and done so hope he gets a few more podiums before end of year, and a win is still realistic in the Newey car.

I find it astonishing Red Bull has had a sole 1-2 finish all season. Will they get some more?

He will get at least one win this year, I'm sure that if Vettel gets the WDC before the end of the season he/the team will do the same they did in Brazil in 2011.

Like Brazil 2011? So Vettel will have a deliberate gearbox problem?
Adds fuel to conspiracy theorists about Webber's gearbox. They'll just switch the gearbox for the last race of the year.

I doubt he'll call it quits early. Like in 2011, Red Bull will gift him a win, probably Brazil again.

Not having a great year, is he? I think his motivation is naturally dipping after all these years but it doesn't help that not only does Vettel seem to be the favoured son at RB and whatever, but also comfortably seems to have the measure of him on track.
That said, I think he'll stick around until Brazil. He'd enjoy a win, if he can get one, and it is that motivation that will keep him pushing until the end of the year.

Webber is moving to endurance racing with Porsche, I can't see throwing the towel in would impress his new employers.

Webber is just an embarrassment now...he is just being humiliated by Vettel. I think he will complete the season, but he will be glad when it is over (and so will I). Webber has been past his sell-by date for a couple of years IMO.

I think he should stick it out, for the people who have supported him and rode with him over his career.
Theres bound to be a few people at each of the next few GP's that have paid (a lot of) money to see him/thank him/wish him well and it would be pretty selfish to walk away.
I also dont think he'd give the satisfaction to Marko of being 'forced out'

As a fan its hard to feel enthusiastic about the sport right now, I can understand how Mark feels.

Any other driver on the grid would be getting humiliated by Vettel in that car right now.

I don't think Webber's really had his heart fully in it since probably Korea and Abu Dhabi 2010... when the last chance of that one title ebbed away from him. By that point he was already having to fight certain elements in the team despite being in the right... it must've been completely gutting to see his team rally round Vettel after Turkey, to have to give up new parts to him despite being a fellow title contender. Since then he's had the bulk of the reliability woes, a lack of equality in strategy and parts, another incident where he's been wronged by his teammate and still the team fails to do anything about it... I hope Dietrich Mateschitz has got a lovely bonus in store for Mark when he finally leaves the team, because he's been as good a servant as you could find in F1 (likewise for Massa by the way). The two get on well so it wouldn't surprise me.
I'm looking forward to seeing a reinvigorated Webber in the Porsche LMP1 at Silverstone next year, because he could destroy that field with the talent and determination he has.

I hate to point out the obvious, but only Webber is in the same car, so you can't know that.

He gets to drive the fastest car and gets paid for giving 100%. Lots of drivers would be more than happy to drive the car. If he isnt motivated then he should just leave the sport now.
He gets to sit in a car with the same stickers as Vettel. I'd be very surprised if they are even.

Only in the eyes of those who don't understand how large a part the car plays.
