Rewind and Backfire, you are amazing.
That would be the correct John Brindley.
His father had Brindley Silk Mills and so fabric would well be his profession.
I will send a card, or if anyone has a phone number for me, give him a call.
Maybe he has email.
Mine is: claytonp@bigpond.com if anyone can pass it on or let him know I was looking to say hello.
You sound like a pretty interesting bunch.
This getting old is a bit of bother.
First, you do have the advantage of being able to retire, but second you don't have the ergs to do what you now have time to do.
I was never involved in car racing, but I did have a private pilot licence.
Will reveal my reason for looking for John.
In our 20's we went out together. Melbourne. Australia.
In 1964 I went to work in London, he followed and I met his family.
He asked me to marry him, but I was out and about exploring the world, and not ready to settle down.
I returned to Australia and never saw him again.
One of those great and rare friends you sometimes wished you hadn't lost.
cheers...Pauline Clayton, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Australia.
